Mercedes-Benz cars have always been easy to allocate from a dense flow of cars. The reason for this is a successful combination of the classic style of Mercedes and the designer delights of our days. So Viano, which we decided to try out as a mobile office, immediately bribed us with his refined comprehensiveness. In most cases, cars of this class are created on the basis of van for commercial use. And no matter how the designers try to smooth out their original kinship, this does not always succeed. Neither chrome decor elements, nor installation of other bumper, stained in the tone of the body, help.

This does not happen with Viano. You always perceive it as a passenger Mercedes, and not as a machine for commercial use. And the main role here is played by the family style of the brand. First of all, it is a charismatic cladding of the radiator, which is complemented by the headlights of the head optics. The general style is supported by embossed sidewalls, connecting together the front and back of the machine. The rear lights are also original, their length is slightly inferior to the height of the opening of the rear door. Extended almost over the entire height of the rear lateral racks, they have large sizes, which is the key to what they will definitely see, and this will work for safety.

The interior of Viano is quite conservative. In the cabin of the car provided to us, combined finishing leather plus fabric. A very convenient and practical solution, an obstacle does not even serve as a light cream color of upholstery. Viano is designed for 7 people: in front of the driver of the driver and passenger, in the middle part there are two separate chairs, in the rear of the three -seater, comfortable sofa. Passenger places are convenient, with the exception of one lack of absence of a mechanism for turning separate seats. They can be expanded only when dismantling the seat itself. To do this, you need to unfasten it from the runners on the floor, then expand in the desired direction and fix it again. To do this is not so simple, given the weight and dimensions of the seats. At the same time, one must look at both so that the chair does not rest on the lining of the cabin, a mobile table or a neighboring seat. Otherwise, all this will serve as an obstacle to the subsequent installation of the chair in the seats on the floor.

It was surprised by the placement of microclimate control in the passenger salon: it is displaced in the left upper front corner of the cabin. Installed in such a strange place, it is at hand of only one passenger sitting behind the driver. Everyone else will have to be content with existing adjustments or tearfully beg about changing settings. The driver has nothing to do with it. It would be much more convenient if the control was located in the middle part of the ceiling of the passenger salon, on equal removal from all five riders, and was duplicated on the instrument panel.

Therefore, if you want to hold a meeting on the road, you need to take care of the layout of the cabin and the climate in it in advance, so as not to waste time and not be distracted from the main thing. The ergonomics of the driver's workplace, as we expected, was on top. The chair is very convenient and has a full set of necessary adjustments. All controls at hand. Most of the on -board system switches are concentrated in the center of the instrument panel. The Mercedesovites do not depart from their traditions: Viano, like all other representatives of this brand, on the steering column only one steering wheel switch. It moves in all directions and spins around its axis. The combination of devices is made in the classic style: two large dials of a tachometer and a speedometer with a trim of steel rings, as well as relatively small sizes, an information display in the middle.

A 2.2-liter diesel was used as a power unit on the machine, the most powerful in the line of 4-cylinder in-line diesel engines, a capacity of 150 liters. With. At 3800 min-1, torque 330 nm in the speed range from 1800 to 2400. A turbocharger with a variable geometry allows you to save the motor from the turboyam effect with a sharp press on the gas pedal. As you can see from the name of our modification, a full -wheel drive transmission is installed on it. In addition to a complete drive and an increased clearance, the car was nevertheless equipped with a 5-speed automatic, although 6-speed mechanics are recommended for diesel versions (the automatic transmission is offered for an additional fee). From this point of view, it was even interesting for us to test the car in the optional version.

The box used on Viano has passed the check on cars and has a honed work algorithm. The machine gun selector is located on the central console, which is quite convenient, and the scheme of its operation is simple and does not require time to get used to it.

Turning the infrared ignition key in the lock, start the engine. The rumble of the diesel engine is barely audible inside the machine, but the instruments and the indications of the information board instantly responded to the launch of the engine with a report that everything was ready to start movement. We transfer the selector to position D. Immediately mark the smooth operation of the automatic transmission: both when touched from the place and on the go. The programs are switched unnoticed, without jerking and just at the moment when it is worth doing. The 4Matic transmission has soft settings. In combination with a rather sharp steering control, this ligament allows you to enjoy the control of the machine both on the asphalt and away from road roads. Speaking about the 4Matic transmission, I would like to make a reservation that it does not make an SUV out of a mini-wen, but only expands the existing possibilities on ground roads. However, do not overestimate the off -road car potential. Even when connecting a full -wheel drive, the automation throws the lion's fraction of the torque on the rear axle, which is not always necessary. Viano 4matic is an excellent car for driving on road roads, and all -wheel drive can only give more confidence in adverse weather conditions.

Having enjoyed Viano management, we were upset only by one circumstance of the appetite of the tested car. When moving along the highway, he spent more than 11 liters per hundred. After conferring, they shifted the guilt in the gluttony of the car to the automatic transmission and an all -wheel drive transmission. And yet it is better if we had a version with a 6-speed mechanics, you see, they would save on fuel ...

On this car, we went a long way and tried it in almost all modes: from the movement along the autobahn and off -road to filigree driving along mountain serpentines. And everywhere Viano showed himself only from the best side, demonstrating good handling, power supply and a sense of confidence. Agree, it costs a lot!
