What I knew about Mazda 2 to a test drive: outwardly attractive, stands out against the background of the general gray mass. With the declared technical characteristics (103 hp with a mass of 960 kg), it promises to be easy to rise.
The spectacular execution of the exterior was evaluated by many prestigious prizes and awards. But, to my biased taste, the double does not look advantageous from all angles. Something is missing from the front of the car, regarding the design of the emblem and the circuit circuit. And yet, if you do not find fault with the little things, the designers really managed to create a feeling of car movement, even when it stands. It should be noted that the car has a completely fresh design. Unlike many automakers, Mazda does not follow the path of replicating one set of style solutions for the entire line.
But, no matter how much praises of the praises of the appearance, the internal space remains more important for the driver.
The interior of the Japanese woman is quite concise, the main sort of gear handle is built into the central console, which visually increases the space. In practical use, innovation is quite convenient and does not require addiction. In general, despite the small dimensions of the car, the cabin is quite spacious.
Conducted the design of the information panel. All counters are made in a classic style: black arrows on a white background of the dial are a pleasant old innovation in the design of the Japanese line.
Ergonomics of the location of storage sections deserves separate praise. A glove compartment with a fast access hole is convenient for documents required on the road. The space between the front seats is effectively used for the section for the phone, the remote control key (about it will be described in more detail below) and other little things.
Yes, a separate section needs a separate section for the ignition key, it is not inserted into the ignition lock. Remote control of the ignition and locking of doors becomes a fashion trend with automakers. The function is not only fashionable, but it also increases protection against theft of the car. You can unlock the door locks and start the engine only if the identification code transmitted from the remote control is corresponded to this particular car.
The functional menu for controlling the audio system (controls - on the steering wheel) is very conveniently made, all actions can be literally performed with one finger of the left hand. A pleasant function of electrical folding of mirrors could not overshadow disappointments from the lack of the function of heating the seats in the maximum configuration. In weather conditions, this becomes an indispensable attribute.
Compared to the previous generation of Mazda 2 (it was not officially sold in Russia), the new model became easier than the predecessor per 100 kg, which made it possible to reduce fuel consumption to 5.9 l per 100 km in mixed mode, and carbon dioxide emissions to 140 g/ km.
Already in the first half an hour of movement in the metropolitan traffic jam, Mazda 2 showed itself a good means of movement. The size of the front windows increasing in the direction of the front, along with large side mirrors, open an excellent review in all directions, increasing the safety of maneuvers at times.
No matter what the owners of American jeeps say about the absence of problems with the large size of their cars, when maneuvering in a limited space, their dimensions are an unchanged plus of small cars. Here, Mazda 2 was no exception: in a dense stream, it was possible to advance to others to move freely in very narrow corridors.
At night, on the Moscow Ring Road and on the tracks you can accelerate to higher speeds. The four steps of the machine for the smoothness of the move is still not enough, the car is overclocking in Drive mode is strong jerking. But as soon as the machine switches to the appropriate gear, the engine power and the lightness of the entire car immediately begin to be felt. Here, the two of the waiting was fully acquitted.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to compare the updated suspension with the previous generation. According to the representatives of Mazda, in the new Mazda 2 it has become much softer. But, nevertheless, it is still tougher than in Mazda 3. It is difficult to call it minus, since without a hard suspension it seems difficult to create a car with a sports character.
At low speeds, the steering wheel electric power reacts somewhat strangely: at first, the dependence between the effort and turning the wheels is not traced, and after some time the turn is abruptly. Perhaps the point is not so much in the electrical impressor, but in particular the work of the DCS dynamic stabilization system.
The real sports of the car easily managed to feel in Sport mode. Here the accelerator pedal more sensitively reacts to efforts, unlike the Drive mode.
Using the DCS function, the car holds the road so well that it often has a desire to check it for stability, each time slowing down at the entrance to the turn.
In general, a small, but quite daring and outwardly very attractive Mazda 2 left only positive emotions from driving. Dvochka will delight fans of fast sports driving of both weak and stronger sex.
