They have different motors: a 2.5-liter diesel engine with a turbocharger at the Defender and a 2.9-liter carburetor engine UMZ-4218.10 at UAZ. In general, not at all classmates, but there is no domestic diesel engine in the manufacturing program. The first look at the elongated UAZ does not disappoint, but at closer looks, they get typical of our auto industry flaws. Low build quality and coloring, freely chatting switches - list just boring, just like looking at the road through the slots between the doors and the body. Defender on a background looks just brilliantly.
But if the driver still got into the Oaz salon through a narrow doorway, he will find that it is much more convenient to sit in it than in the lend rover. In Defender, the driver is located below, his legs are extended, he pressed his shoulder to the door itself, and the pedal node and the steering wheel are strongly shifted to the left. The ergonomics of the defineer is far from excellence, but the devices are well read, and the controls work clearly and do not require great effort. With UAZ, it is more difficult: the car created at one time by ordering the machine is difficult to turn into civil, even if you install a soft upholstery of the front panel and the semblance of the console.
On asphalt
Both cars are quite clumsy on the road, but the Diesel Land-Rover Diesel makes it easy to win the start from the place, overclocking and any other sprint disciplines. But the maximum speed of cars is almost the same, although the engine of the Englishman is noticeably more powerful. Most likely, the case in an impressive forwarding trunk with chandeliers that do not improve aerodynamics.
In the turns, you should be careful to the driver of the Land Rometer - the car is very cubed and reacts with a large lane at a sharp turn of the steering wheel. UAZ due to the tougher suspension is more willingly responding to the driver's requirements, and highway tires

As for the brakes, both cars are not particularly effective. Defender, whose cutting mass is almost 2 tons, with disk brakes require 55 meters to stay from a speed of 100 km / h, and the UAZ with drums is not enough at such a speed and 60 meters: to hold it on a straight intensive braking is simply impossible. Only with great difficulty, having hired back-forward, managed to get on the solid soil with its own way.
The third, the most desperate attempt was made in a purely domestic on Avos. Divide on a dozen meters, this perhaps, along with UAZ stuck on the ears. It took a towing cable to rescue the car. Evidence of the failed guard of off-road remains a full imprint on the cinema of the bottom of the car: beams of bridges, muffler and cardan.

BECAUSE...
Let's open a secret: the third car took part in the test - the third car is walking out of UAZ 31519, which, by the way, and performed solo on a towing cable. Without going into details, we will explain: this is a standard short car with a spring suspension, hard riding and 2.9 liter engine. No, it was not equipped with a secret weapon like bridges with wheeled gearboxes or self-locking differentials. The main difference was in tires: on the short UAZ, the Tires of the YAI-357a of 225 / 90R15 were mounted. Looking ahead, we can safely recommend that the owners of the Oazov, who do not want to lose their machines, but are looking for acceptable comfort on the highway. Outwardly, they resemble well-known I-245 (these are not the most weak tires from those that put on the UAZ), but, unlike them, have a radial framework.
And now the short thing UAZ did not mind the honor of the brand. With the second transmission included in the main transmission and reduced in the dispensing, it left a 40-centimeter depth of a wheelchair! Locking strips with gearboxes, supports of shock absorbers and both bridges, the car continued to move where it seemed impossible, including a plot where his long-grade relative was stuck and where the lend rover was stuck. However, is it all about tires and a short base?
Measures revealed one curious fact. If the diagonal hanging of the wheels of the defineer has come when the height of 650 mm is taken to an obstacle, the UAZ 31519 climbed the slide of 520 mm, then stretch began to turn the wheel helplessly when the height of the obstacle was only 390 mm! Contrary to the common belief that the spring suspension provides B'elian moves than spring, everything came out on the contrary. The culprit is a thick front stabilizer of transverse stability, explicitly made to improve the behavior of the machine on the asphalt.
By the way, the absence of blockages of inter-wheeled differentials is subject to a certain extent compensated by a long-weight soft suspension, allowing wheels not to lose contact with the soil.
Instead of output
In our comparison, it is difficult to be impartial, but, putting your hand on the heart, we recognize: compared with the predecessor UAZ 3153 lost a fair share of the sake of improving comfort, but did not reach the level of the defineer, which, in general, is also not a standard in this case. However, the British did not come with the principles and did not begin to sacrifice the automobiles of the car for riding on the roads with a solid coating. Among the unconditional advantages of the Defender - the quality of assembly, reliability, durability, powerful and economical diesel engine. Without going into reasoning on the quality of the assembly of the UAZ, we only give a list of the largest troubles that happened during the test: the pump pin cut off, the pulley of the hydraulic plug was collected, the nut on the valve pusher was unscrewed, and when it was installed, it turned out that the gaps in the MRM were completely absent. For the test of the brakes had to re-adjust the blocks. Land-Rover, however, also did not cost without malfunctions: Light bulb burned in the left headlamp ....
