Testing Hyundai Solaris, albeit a hatchback, is not easy. And the point is not so much that everything is written about him, but that by mid-December of the past year 90,000 cars of this model were sold. In general, Hyundai can be attributed in some way to the phenomenon of the automotive market. The company was created in 1967, and in just 40 years (by 2007) it managed to become the fifth largest manufacturer, and the volume of world sales by 2011 reached more than 4 million cars a year.
The company made a significant leap forward over the past few years, during which the cars produced by it have managed to turn from cheap and unreliable goods into goods quite worthy, attractive and high -quality. And at the same time, Korean cars managed to stay in almost the same price segment. Moreover, Hyundai moved to this for a long time and stubbornly, starting at one time with the assembly of licensed Ford models, and then, after 7 years, we began to work on their first model. Here, however, it was also not without the help of older brothers: Koreans resorted to the experience of Mitsubishi Motors. Having pushed away from the then very popular Mitsubishi Colt, Hyundai launched their first Pony on the market.
Then, several years of hard work, acquisition of technical experience, and the first Sonata model almost completely developed by Koreans appears on the market, in which only Japanese engines remained from the borrowed. Then this problem was solved.
And although the Hyndai Motor did not disdain to turn other people's models under the license, they stubbornly moved forward. Every year they invest more and more in production technology, come up with new chips for their cars and are increasingly comply with the requirements of the market.
Solaris
The first presentation of Solaris on the domestic market took place in February 2011. In June of the same year, Solaris was represented in the version of the hatchback body.

Judging by the technical characteristics, the hatchback from the sedan is not much different. The power units are the same, the suspension is the same, the configuration is the same.
General sensations
The first visual perception: the car has become shorter, smaller, frivolous. At the same time, the advantage may also have a frivolous one, the car is painted in funny bright colors. The grown funny Getz, not very proportional, but, nevertheless, he will certainly find his fans.
At the same time, inside the salon is amazingly spacious, and compared to the sedan from behind, there was more air, the four of them to be in the car are absolutely comfortable. We stuffed the giants inside, but nothing interfered with the usual configuration either from behind or front.
We got a car with a 4-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.6 liters with a capacity of 123 hp. And at the manual transmission. In the case of Solaris, if you are an active ride, a mechanical box solves many problems, which, it turns out, is inclined to the machine gun. There, the computer, in order to maintain ecology, switches the programs when the car is just starting to gain momentum. Here, although the cut -off is turned on a little earlier than the red zone, the machine manages to accelerate properly. The nimble hatch surprised on the road not only sadly crawling perforated partners, but even their own riders, who, after the first minutes of driving, did not fail to look into the registration certificate again to clarify: how many horses are there under the hood?
And already this experience forced to look at the car differently: this approach to the budget automotive should be completely arranged by customers. For those who seek comfort for relatively little money, you can offer an option with a 1.4 engine and on a machine, in a top configuration. Those who are looking for fast driving here: manual transmission and 123 hp.
In our opinion, in our opinion, only one unpleasant drawback was found at the IAC: the 1st and 3rd programs are very close to each other, in a hurry you can confuse, so you have to be especially attentive when switching.

But still there are several more things that are striking. You forgive them, since this is still not a Mercedes, but they nevertheless cause quiet irritation.

But there are also plenty of advantages of the pluses. This is what we liked:
- ESP shutdown;

- air conditioning in the database;
- heating of the front glass in the zone of wipers with the help of incandescent threads (as on the rear window);
- And in general, in cold weather, the car quickly warms up, so you will not have to freeze in it for a long time.
But the main plus is, of course, a pleasant price! Judging by the reviews of the owners, in the Krasnodar Territory, for example, you can buy Solaris in the simplest configuration for 379 thousand rubles.

A little more about the test drive
Of course, it would be most interesting to test this car in various roads and various weather. And if this time we did not happen far beyond the borders of Moscow and the Moscow region, in order to check it in an off -road, then with weather conditions was lucky. We took him in the press park on dry asphalt, but returned when Moscow was already swept knee-deep, and then it still melted.
The car pleasantly surprised us. Thanks to her slight weight, she started very vigorously, slowed down perfectly. A rather heavy steering wheel and a hard suspension gave a feeling of good handling. For an inexpensive civilian car, it is not necessary: \u200b\u200bit can always be adjusted to the window freed in the stream, and with a sharp press of the accelerator pedal and ahead of the potential opponent.
At the same time, Solaris's turns are quite worthy, and if you put the rubber better and, perhaps, not goodyear, then the lateral demolitions will become smaller.

The consumption of gasoline, even in the city at the level of 8-11 liters, is quite a pleasant addition to all of the above.
By the way, I can’t come up with anything bad to say about the ability of the car and when driving in the snow.
Still quite stable (although it makes no sense to compare with all -wheel drive) and maneuverable, he quite successfully copes with porridge under the wheels and cuts his way forward. And in these weather conditions, it is also sometimes possible to turn off ESP ...

By the way, in the conditions of the Moscow climate, the function of heating the windshield in the janitors area turned out to be very useful. She did not allow the snow mud clinging to the wipers to freeze on elastic bands, so the wipers coped with their work perfectly.
