The title of folk car in any country is the key to doom for success. The story of Volkswagen is the brightest evidence. However, in Russia, the laws of the market at all times were specific. The title of folk creations of AvtoVAZ was not conquered in the competition on the battlefield, but scooped up in the gray hopelessness of the post -Soviet car market.

At first, the giants of the global automotive industry were not seriously engaged in this, albeit mass, but not the most cash niche of the domestic car market. However, the first serious opuses on this subject, the wheels of the wheels of the country Ford Focus and Renault Logan proved that it is quite possible to compete in a lower price segment with a vase. But in order for this competition to become really significant, it was necessary to be more than just the opening of factories for the production of more or less cheap foreign cars. It was necessary to create a car that in Russia would be considered really popular!

This idea lay on the surface! Is it worth it to be surprised that in the first post -crisis year, two automakers at once offered the Russians their version of the folk car: at first, Volkswagen presented the Chinese version of Polo in the sedan body cast for Russia. And under the curtain of the season and Hyundai, the new Accent adapted for our country, the name of which all of Russia chose for our country

The first Korean car created specifically for Russia, with a Russian name, symbolizing the desire for stars! It sounds proud! But what is the new Russian spill Accent in the case?

Three months after the presentation of the model, the Russian automobile community languished in anticipation: prices and first tests. And then, finally, it happened: the veil of secrets fell from both of them.

Price from 379,000 rubles. Frankly pleased: unlike the same VW Polo Sedan, air conditioning for 20,000 rubles. Available as an option not only in the top, but also in the basic configuration. And the automatic box costs not 44 800, but only 30,000 rubles. But what is better, in the words of Zhvanetsky: today are three or yesterday for five? Will the Korean handsome Solaris be able to compete with the German modest VW Polo on bumpy Russian roads?!

For the answer to this question, we went to the Hyundai plant near St. Petersburg to try the first pre-production party of Solaris at the factory training ground. Of course, a short ten -minute test could not give answers to all questions, but the first and, I must say, made a very positive impression of a car quite well.

Under the cold rays of the winter St. Petersburg sun, a sunny boy plays with ribs, like muscles. The wealth of flowing lines painfully relates him to Sonata's older sister. The interior is also pleasing with grace and a giant 454 -litful hole of the luggage compartment, slightly disappointing only with the quality of plastic. Visually, the torpedo, which seems to be melted from rubberized plastic, in fact is trimmed with stiff corrugated plastic.

The first test on the washing board of the Solaris factory landfill takes place, although without American lightness, but quite meekly. The breakdowns began to bother the suspension only at a speed of 35 km/h, which, given the quality of the coating, is more than acceptable. In terms of controllability, Solaris, however, was not as sharp as his German competitor with the Kaluga residence, but pleased with full prediction on the slippery coating. Even on the icy winter highway, Solaris went into the skid enough smoothly so that it could be caught at a very decent speed. All this is natural, without the intervention of the stabilization system.

When the optional ESP is turned on, all the attempts to refuel Solaris into the skins are broken down on the Korean stubbornness of the auxiliary electronics, an iron grip of an accelerator pedal with an iron grip.

But this is probably the only moment when an artificial lack of horses is felt on the winter highway. With reasonable work of a 5 -speed mechanical KP, even 107 liters. With. A 1.4 -linen engine with a half -ton Slaris is enough for an acceptable about 12 from overclocking to a hundred. However, the main weapon of Solaris lurks in completely different scabbards. It is no secret that VW and Hyundai played on the same weaknesses Lada and Renault Logan, for the first time offering Russians budget cars with the ability to equip automatic transmission. But this version is still ahead of one of the closest numbers. At first, Solaris will be available only in the sedan back. But already in May in St. Petersburg they will begin to collect a hatchback version of the new folk car.

The factory of the sun
Despite the financial crisis, one of the youngest automobile brands Hyundai demonstrates enviable growth. Now the company occupies the 65th line in the list of world brands and the 8th position in the ranking of automobile brands. According to the global volume of sales, Hyundai reached 6th place among automobile companies. And in Russia for 4th place in sales among foreign cars. However, this is only the beginning! The St. Petersburg Factory of the Sun is designed to help Hyundai get into the leaders of the Russian market. Solaris will compete with Renault Logan and VW Polo for the title of the most folk foreign car of Russia. Unusually bright for its class from the point of view of design and profitable in price, the first Russian Korean is upset only by the lack of ABS in the cheapest configuration. But in the top versions in the Arsenal Solaris include as many as 6 pillows and a complete set of active safety tools.
