Hyundai Solaris test drive: before and after the conveyor

Recent debut, half -year queues, expanding the production of what to say, a bright debut! .. Kolesa.ru portal compared the pre -production and commodity Hyundai Solaris and thought about the secrets of its popularity.

At the end of December, Hyundai invited Russian journalists to a factory in Kamenka to testify the appearance of the first - not serial - copies of the new Slaris model. A few months later, we already saw serial cars, namely in the form in which they will get to customers. The portal Kolesa.ru was faced with a reality in the form of living Solaris, and not those that were specially prepared for the tests of picky journalists.

Well done Koreans, colleagues made almost one voice, evaluating the test Solaris in the plant near St. Petersburg. After the first, albeit short-lived test drive, no one had any doubt: in Hyundai they did an excellent job, screwing poorly screwed nuts and planting the broken panels on glue. The first batch was collected in a European manner of high quality

In mid-February, the official Hyundai dealer East-Avo, arranged a presentation of a freshly-born serial Solaris. There, the truth surfaced: the car shown then, at the factory, was no different from the current mass sedan! The assembly quality is still an order of magnitude higher than the level of materials, and the suspension is still as dense, moderately hard, not allowing breakdowns.

One of the Solaris had frighteningly different gaps between the rear bumper and wings. It might even seem that this car was in an accident, but this is not so. Just welded to him. Already a post -fact, in a car dealership. There are no complaints about gaps in factory cars.

However, the Russians fell in love with Solaris even before serial machines saw the light. At least five reasons for this:

1. Who could say about the controversy of tastes, but Solaris is the most stylish car for its money.

2. Only in the budget Hyundai there is the possibility of connecting ai-pods and ai-phones (or other sources via Bluetooth) to the radio. The thousands of active users of mobile players will evaluate this.

3. SOLARIS is perfectly adapted to Russian conditions: heating the wipers, a clearance of 160 mm, a dense suspension, another valuable adaptation to the soul of a Russian driver: five years of guarantees against three competitors.

4. Hyundai is a little more expensive than Logan and cheaper than Polo Sedan, although it is not inferior in equipment to the latter and exceeds Renault.

5. Korets managed to make a very balanced machine that does not make the impression of cheap and real foreign cars look like this - albeit not the most prestigious.

In order to be consistent, let's not forget about the shortcomings of Solaris, which we would highlight three:

1.hyundai gained popularity as a manufacturer of reliable, simple and worthy equipped cars for sane money. But Solaris, remaining a player in the budget segment, is not so cheap next to Renault Logan (read a test drive), and winning only 30,000 rubles for a more prestigious and better equipped Volkswagen Polo (read test drive) in the basic version.

2. The space in the Solaris salon is subjective: but it feels at Hyundai at least not freer than in Logan and precisely more closely than in the Polo hack. And in terms of the volume of not the most convenient trunk, Hyundai (454 liters) objectively loses to the German and the Frenchman: Volkswagen is ahead of Solaris by 6 liters (460 l), and Renault by as much as 56 liters.

3. Hyundai expectations for separate budgetary configurations are already exceeding six months. I wonder what percentage of such cars that ordered such cars will eventually refuse them?

P.S. Note: the waiting time in the coming months may decrease. In the spring, the factory starts the second production shift, in 2012 Hyundai plans to double the number of cars manufactured compared to this year. Recall that the Koreans invested half a billion dollars in the construction of a plant, which in 2011 will produce more than 100 thousand cars.
