Honda Mobilio test drive since 2004 hatchback
Honda Mobilio car overview
GeneralIt is believed that the expression of the Honda minivan has already become a kind of trademark. Honda minivan means wonderful in appearance, which means that it is reliable in management, which means that it is easy to operate. Moreover, the matter, in all likelihood, is that soon a brief wording will be distributed: minivan means Honda. And some domestic manufacturers are already trying to calculate how much you can evaluate the Honda minivan brand.
Honda, meanwhile, publishes a new Minivan model with a three -row location of Honda Mobilio seats. This is a model that uses the Honda Fit car, but only in a more compact form. Indeed, 4055 mm for a three -row minivan - there is no such length anywhere in the world. Minute! - Surely someone will exclaim: what about Toyota Sparky, but what about Daihatsu Atrai7? They are 30 cm shorter! Well, you need to start with the fact that the Toyota Sparky model is still a transformed, but still micro-lineup. And its base is taken from the cargo minicab of a wagon layout, so that this machine can in any way be a member of the Honda Mobilio model in any way. This model, simply put, is a completely different property. And if you agree with such a question, then it should be noted that Mobilio has bypassed the recent Toyota Corolla Spacio model with its 4240 mm length and became the shortest minivan with three rows of seats.
In comfort, it is higher than the STEPWGN car!
In the appearance of the new model, the size of its lateral glasses is immediately striking. And it’s clear why! After all, the front side glass occupies a good half of the front door, and the rear - so it clearly exceeds the size of the door in area. Cars of this type in the world once or two were expected. At least I was able to recall only one, namely Fiat Multipla (it was not imported to Japan). To this should be added an elongated (68% of the total length) the wheelbase and the cubic shape of the body, which allows you to insist on its uniqueness. Of course, those who share a conservative view of how the car should look like they will probably prefer the more traditional Corolla Spacio design. But those buyers who are playful will probably enjoy the original appearance of Mobilio.
The cabin is surprisingly spacious. So this is not only 4 meters long for a car. Perhaps, if in every row (one-two-three) he will sit on a person whose growth will not exceed 168 cm, so there will still be a little free space in front of the knees. This is the layout! The chairs of the last row are slightly raised, but still, in comparison with the third seats in the Spacio salon, just paradise conditions. Naturally, when there is nobody from behind, the capture of the second row can be pushed back as much as possible and then it becomes completely free. And if you add to this that the chairs here are so convenient, it becomes clear why you feel more comfort in Mobilio than in even the Honda Stepwgn salon.
It goes without saying that with full load (7 people), quite a bit of space remains for baggage. However, if there are only 6 ridges and they are placed according to the scheme two in front, three in the middle and one behind, then it becomes possible to remove the excess chair of the third row and immerse, for example, a large suitcase. Next, you can accommodate a folding bike, while there is no need to remove the wheels. And when it is required to transport any object of an oblong shape, then its length can be even 2.6 meters! This is such a practical and, at the same time, compact car!
1.5 liter engine plus a unavailable transmission gives such a move - you won’t complain!
As an engine in the machine, an I-DSI brand engine with double candles is used, thanks to which fuel consumption has sharply decreased. The main parts of the engine are the same as on the Honda Fit car, although due to the larger mass of the machine the operating volume of cylinders is increased from 1.3 to 1.5 liters. Transmission with a stray variator. There are no complaints about the quality of the course, at least when you go alone. Even then, when we were already the three of us, there were no problems. When driving around the city in the accelerator pedal, there was always a decent power supply. The problem will probably arise then, when the car will have to go with full load. True, in Honda, I was assured that even in this case, the car would be able to climb an average steepness as well as a speed of 100 km per hour. This, of course, is not to say that very, but still not so that it is barely, as when driving a large truck.
Manageability is mostly reliable. There is no, of course, such a relaxed body position as, say, in the same Fit machine, but still it is a minivan. Let a little, but still changed for the better and that rigidity in management that haunted me when a trial on the same Fit car. On the other hand, I could not get used to the features of the steering with electric reinforcement. Directly, as if spinning some kind of elastic band. Of course, if you proceed from the fuel consumption and weight of the car, the electrical strengthening of the steering drive gives noticeable benefit. But my personal opinion is such that this benefit should not be due to the deterioration of a sense of control of the car. But in response, I was noticed that in Honda Fit the question with the steering control is exactly the same, but there have been no complaints from buyers yet. So I'm finding fault, so what? Well, let it be so. But those who have happened (even a little) to sit behind the wheel of a hatchback made in Europe at least once, I am sure that they will share my point of view. No, this car will only win if this deficiency in steering is eliminated.
