Two years ago, Ford Mondeo was only in the middle of the standings of the most popular D-segment models in Russia, yielding to Toyota Avensis, Mazda6, VW Passat and Honda Accord. But with the start of production in Vsevolozhsk Mondeo in the sedan back and reducing prices for this model, the balance of power has changed dramatically. By the end of 2009, Ford reached third, losing only to Folx and Mazde, and this summer Mondeo became a bestseller of the Russian D-segment! At the same time, Ford dealers were lucky: in the wake of the success of Mondeo, sales of its updated version were launched, which will attract even more attention of customers to this model.
Although Russian sales of New Mondeo began in October, the updated sedan of the Vsevolozhsk assembly (most likely from the experimental party) I met in St. Petersburg back in early September just a couple of days after returning with the pan-European Test drive Mondeo, held in Munich. In Munich, it was not possible to ride the sedans here, only hatchbacks and universals of the Belgian assembly were presented. Our cars are much more expensive than a sedan, so the demand for them is small: 5 -door bodies choose about 2% of customers. But, to evaluate the metamorphoses that occurred with the updated model, this did not interfere for any type of body are the same.
The appearance of the car after restyling is a mixture of the old and new. In the case of Mondeo, there were not so many new ingredients, and most of them swam on the surface. The front part of the car has changed most. The grate of the air intake from the trapezoid turned into a hexagon, simultaneously increasing in size, and the radiator cladding, on the contrary, was a little stung, receiving a chrome edging and a strip that cuts it into two halves. Over the fog lights, LED strips of overall lights stretched, which are regularly placed on the versions of Titanium and Ghia. LEDs appeared in the rear flashlights (feet and dimensions), and on all modifications without exception.
In the salon of innovations even less. The design of the central console and the upper part of the door panels was slightly modified. LED backlight lamps appeared in the ceiling with a new tissue upholstery, and the cup holders on the central tunnel were covered with a curtain. In addition, new decoration materials were selected, including high -quality Windsor leather, and a Russified navigator appeared in the list of options. Exploring the salon, I drew attention to the Comfort, Normal and Sport buttons, located in the lower part of the central console before there were no here. As it turned out, these are the buttons of the new CDC suspension control system, which is optionally installed on the Titanium and GHIA version.
For the test, we were provided with the most powerful Mondeo modifications with the latest gasoline turbo engine 2.0 EcoBoost, developing 240 liters. s., and 200 -horsepower 2.2 TDI turbodiesel. Equipped by boost and direct fuel injection, Ecobust gives the maximum torque of 340 nm in the interval of 1900 to 3500 min-1, providing excellent acceleration from the bottom and while remaining very elastic. Such a motor is only paired with a 6 -speed PowerShift robot, and this tandem works just perfectly: thanks to two switching switches, they occur exclusively smoothly.
The modernized 2.2-liter turbodiesel on the handle liked less. At the start, filigree accuracy of working with an accelerator and a rigid clutch pedal is required here, otherwise the motor can easily be drowned out. But on the highway, the king is the king: it pulls perfectly and does not bother with a noise if it does not twist it above 2500 min-1. But we will not be offered this motor. The only diesel unit available to Russian customers Mondeo is 140 -horsepower 2.0 TDI, and given our experience, you need to take it exclusively with an automaton.
We do not love
The rear view camera is only with the premium audio system and navigator (93,000 rubles). Not cheap

Driving
As before, Mondeo is perfectly controlled, although someone may seem heavy to someone.
Salon
There are few changes, but they are all in the suit. Buyers of versions of GHIA and Titanium will also be able to evaluate new leather decoration options.
Comfort
At the highest level. Moreover, regardless of whether Mondeo is equipped with an active cdc suspension or not.
Safety
Five Euro NCAP stars, plus ABS and 7 eirbags in the database. But the stabilization system is put only for surcharge.

Our opinion
The lack of cardinal changes in the updated Mondeo indicates a successful initial design of the model. Nevertheless, I received a renewal not so little: a stylish face, Ecoboost engines with a PowerShift robot, new options and interior decoration options. At the same time, the price of the model increased slightly.
