According to the developers, the fifth -generation Daihatsu Move with a fully updated filling is the most economical car with a gasoline engine in the world (with the exception of a hybrid drive). Since its birth in 1995, this model, together with its main competitor, Suzuki Wagon R has become the ancestor of a completely new genre in the Japanese class of KAY-KARs. Like the previous generation, the model is presented in two versions: Standard Move and Sports Move Custom. The appearance of the new Move practically did not change the car inherited an elegant monolithic silhouette from the previous generation. But a significantly optimized technical component of the car deserves the most close attention.

Previously, all the improvements of the model were aimed at expanding the space of the cabin and at increasing the wheelbase. So, the previous generation’s wheelbase was 130 mm longer than that of Wagon R, and its length was 2,490 mm. In the new Move, it has become shorter by 35 mm and is 2,455 mm. The developers abandoned the ill -conceived and ineffective expansion of the volume of the car and chose the most optimal indicators that are most consistent with safety requirements.

The new Daihatsu Move received comprehensive development: the wheelbase has decreased, the car has become much easier to drive, the running characteristics and the level of security are also at the proper level. It is not surprising that recently many adherents of downsisus are increasingly preferred by Kay Kara for other cars.
 
The most economical
During the automatic stopping of the engine, the ECO IDLE system on the speedometer screen lights up, and the multidisplay displays the stop time and the number of seconds passed from this moment.

To ensure the most economical driving, Move is equipped with special environmental functions. In addition to the eco-navigation system, which analyzes the situation on the road and supplies the driver with all kinds of tips and tips, and also offers the most environmentally friendly route (standard equipment for X Limited and Custom X Limited), there is a signal that changes its color with an economical mode when driving in economically. White on blue (standard equipment for Custom RS), as well as an indicator of environmental friendliness in the form of a leaf (standard equipment for all configurations except L).

The car is capable of driving a record 27 km on a liter of gasoline in 10-15 mode, this figure is 5 km/l larger than that of the previous generation model. The machine wins 2 km/l due to the new start-stop system, 1.5 km/l due to the optimization of the engine and the variator, the remaining 1.5 km/l of the result of reduced resistance, improved power conservation, reduced air temperature at the release and other technical solutions.

The start-stop system, which is equipped with the engine of the new Move, is called Eco IDLE. It is much more compact and more developed by the system used in Daihatsu Mira. There are two basic configurations: L, without ECO IDLE, and X, equipped with a new start-stop system. The equipment is cheaper: its cost is 1,120,000 yen (about $ 13,500). X is a little more expensive than 1,220,000 yen (about $ 14,700), however, in addition to Eco Idle, there are aluminum discs, engine start button, Key Free system, and multi -information display upholstered in genuine leather. Compared to Mira, which of all of the above included only the start-stop system and which at the same time cost 80,000 yen (about $ 960) more expensive, this offer looks much more profitable.

Unlike Mira, they abandoned the use of the capacitor with a double electric layer that prevents the shutdown or reloading of the car navigation system, the computer is equipped with an additional power system instead. Without an electric oil pump, the variator began to spend less electricity during the engine stop. The Hill Start Assist system instead of solenoid valves that were used on the previous model, now I received an executive device from the ESC system. At the same time, the car is not equipped with the electronic stability control system itself. ESCs plan to start the equipment of KAY KARs no earlier than October 1, 2014, so, most likely, they will have to be patient before the sixth generation exit.

The new MOVE is equipped with the same KF engine as the previous generation model, however, due to the I-EGR exhaust gas recovery system, which reduces the pumping losses, as well as the plastic throttle case, it was possible to significantly increase its effectiveness. Reducing the wheelbase of the car, the developers expanded the motor compartment, which allowed to reduce the air temperature at the inlet. The improved cost -effectiveness of the car is most noticeable in the summer season.
 
ECO IDLE system
For Daihatsu Move, 8 colors of the body color are available. The photo shows the Silky Maroon Crystal Metallic car. The cost of the model is from 1,120,000 yen, about $ 13,500 (l/front -wheel drive) up to 1,441,000 yen, about $ 17,360 (x limited/all -wheel drive).

An inexpensive and simple Eco IDLE system during a test drive made the most positive impressions on me. It dramatizes the engine at the moment when the car speed drops to 0 km/h. Among the start-stop systems, there are also those that turn off the motor at a speed of 10-15 km/h. On the one hand, this, of course, allows you to save more fuel, on the other hand, the system often turns off the engine when this is not necessary, for example, during a leisurely driving. It is also impossible not to note that the ECO IDLE system is very convenient and easy to use.

After stopping, the power unit requires 0.4 seconds to restart 0.1 seconds less than in Mira. This, of course, is not as fast as in Mazda brand machines, but it does not cause discomfort at all. After the restart, the engine is very smoothly gaining momentum. Typically, the rapid start of the engine after stopping is carried out in two ways: either by clutch, or due to the torque converter. Move uses the second method, since due to the liquid the converter triggers the motor much more smooth than the clutch.

Dramatically and forcefully drowned the gas pedal to the floor, I was happy to find that the car accelerates sedately and without shocks. There is, however, an unpleasant moment: if, after suspension of the engine, just releasing the brake pedal, without holding the gas pedal pressed, the motor will begin to rapidly gain momentum, after which it will sharply reduce them. Especially often this can happen at the entrance to the turn. And the piercing roar of the motor is by no means delight.
 
Lovers of downsizing
For the first time, the Kay-Class car is equipped with an advanced air conditioning system with Nanoe air purification system (standard equipment for X Limited).

For the first time in Japan, the options have a Disney design of the model. The upholstery of seats and rugs (2 colors are available for a choice: beige or pink), as well as the tires and a license plate frame are made in the Mickey Mouse style. Available for all new generation MOVE sets.

The maximum output power of the atmospheric engine is 6 hp. Less than the model of the previous generation, but you can’t call the car slow. This is a great merit of optimizing the variator and general weight loss of the machine by 35 kg. The turbocharged engine demonstrates expected power. It would seem that at the same speed, but with a smaller number of revolutions, unimaginable fuel savings can be achieved. But, unfortunately, the engines with turbocharged are not equipped with the Eco IDLE system. However, if you take into account that from a technological point of view this is not an impossible task, it can hope that in the near future the developers will delight us with a new improvement.

But the chassis of the new Move exceeded all my expectations. The suspension on machines with an atmospheric engine is soft, there are no stabilizers, therefore, when turning, a small roll is felt, but not as strong as in previous models. The car responds normally to the steering, its controllability, in general, has improved significantly. In models with a turbocharged engine, the rolls are small, there is a feeling of sports. The level of comfort of the ride is on top, and a pleasant sound from the contact of thickened tires with the surface of the road pleases the hearing.

On the highway, both models behave calmly. Despite the shortened wheelbase, any longitudinal vibrations are successfully extinguished, and the car moves forward without excess shaking. The new MOVE was created on the basis of the platform of the previous model, which is why they have so much in common in appearance.

Thus, the fifth generation Move has become not only much more economical, in all respects he switched to a qualitatively new level. Thanks to the latest developments and numerous improvements, the model has become almost perfect. By the way, this is a very attractive option for lovers of downsus.
