We were not embarrassed that all cars were already tested by the engine at one time. When entering the second round, we knew that in two years a lot of water went up - some models were updated, and some who passed the test in winter, to us, among other things, it was interesting to try in summer.
 
So, 11 cars cost from $ 5,000 to $ 12,000. For correctness, we divided them into four subspecies: compact hatchbacks with low-power motor up to 1.0 liters (41-50 hp); the same thing, but with a motor with a helper - 1.2-1.6 liters (60-75 hp); Compact sedans (75-90 hp) and the Golf class (and it turns out, it happens for this price).
 
Let's start with the small: Daewoo Tico - Fiat Uno - Peugeot 106. Daewoo Tico is produced in Uzbekistan, FIAT UNO - in Poland, Peugeot 106 - in France. Typical city automobiles, designed for the rhythm rhythm of urban crossroads and rush in traffic jams, and not on family cruising runs Moscow - Crimea. They are enough to accommodate 1-2 people.
 
Daewoo Tico.

Once we wrote that almost love this car. Indeed, a pleasant dynamic car with a cheerful appearance, with a slight time in turning ... But a sedan with a motor 1.3 liters got into our hands for the first time. And the attitude to this model has changed somewhat ...
 
First, the dynamics of ACCENT 1.3 no longer shakes - the mass increased towards power. The reaction to the gas pedal is somewhat matful. It takes for a while before the motor responds to a sharp opening of the throttle. However, it is unlikely that the sedan with such a motor is intended for active driving - Gamma Hyundai offers for this easy hatchback or a sedan with a 90-strong 1.5 liter engine. The main trump cards of the sedan 1.3 is a more spacious interior and low price (1.5-liter versions are more expensive than $ 12,000).
 
Having understood with the dynamics, we regretted that the strict suspension and effective accent brakes were disappeared. Naturally, no matter what kind of reconfigurations under the calm temperament of the car in this case and speech cannot be - the characteristics of the suspension and brakes correspond to more powerful versions. But if it really wants to shut beautifully, you can do it with such a motor, it is necessary to twist it.
 
Accent has good maneuverability. The steering is informative. In all modes, the behavior of the machine is predictable and rarely requires additional adjustment. Increased rear axle load helps to improve controllability. And if if the sedan and rags into slip, then the return to the trajectory does not require a large physical tension - efforts on the steering wheel are minimal.

Renault 19 cars for the time who has passed since their appearance in our market managed to win wide popularity. Their main visors are simplicity, reliability, unpretentiousness and good anti-corrosion treatment.

The dynamics of Renault 19 leaves much to be desired, but, given the fact that the described engine is installed on, just say, a rather big car, we did not expect another. Renault 19 is well held with the steering and gas in the turn path. The suspension is well swallowing irregularities on the road - a long trip will not be tedious. Brakes - without comments. The effort on the pedals is acceptable for both men and women. The absence of an anti-lock system in this machine, not differing in elevated dynamic data, is quite natural.
 
Kia Avella Delta.
The Kia Avella Delta salon was most equipped. Here and the power steering, and the electric board, and four power windows, and even ... air conditioning. With ergonomics, unfortunately, not all smoothly. Internal handles of all doors are too shifted back and closing the door, eliminate the elbow into the back of the seat or in the rack. We were quite surprised when on one line with a price of $ 11.500 read the name Sephia - the sedan of the modern Golf class. This is the largest and most spacious car from all here presented. And if a year ago, Sephia could somehow justify the money invested in it ($ 15,000) only with its appearance, today this car has its $ 11.500 as an externally, but also internally. Judge for yourself: 76-strong engine with distributed injection, power steering, central locking, immobilizer, power windows, fabric seat upholstery, driving seat cushion adjustment in height. Assembly - only Korean.
 
Just for the year, this model fell by 25% thanks to the reasonable policy of KIA dealers. And, as a result, in the summer of 1998, Sephia is the most affordable and well-purchased Golf class car in Russia. His closest classmate competitor, Ford Escort 1.3 Cl with a carburetor 65-power engine and equipped with only the central lock, costs $ 1,000 more expensive. The appearance of the second generation sephia has not yet affected the positions of the first.
