The Chrysler name in Europe is firmly associated with SUVs. With a Jeep division, which produces popular Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. There is a steady demand for these SUVs, and there has already been a circle of car owners who do not recognize other brands. It is more difficult with cars - on a small Neon we have a traffic police of the Moscow region, on a fresh 300m - a few fans of extravagant forms.
Chrysler Sebring, presented for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 2000, finally received a full registration with our dealers. Naturally, we became interested in which audience the stratus model is counting on.
Auto -pack. Like all American cars, inside Sebring is simple and unpretentious, like the expanses of Arizona. The only stake can be considered white analog appliances, clearly licked from 300m. This is taking into account the fact that Sebring was developed for the European market, given the tastes of the Old World.

This box is a sectral type, with the possibility of gear shifting, forcibly, as on mechanics. The name of the unit is quite unusual even for Americans - Autostick can be verbatime as a motor packing, and the algorithm for its work differs from most European thrones. We have already encountered this on Mercedes (here it is, the families of Daimlerchrysler)-the handle should not be shaken back and forth, but to the left and right. To yourself - a reduced gear. Otherwise, Sebring is a typical American. A spacious salon, a straightforward torpedo, a huge radio with a clip for four CDs. The seats are plush, as already happened on American family sedans.
       Deceptive effect. Sebring is much more spectacular outside than inside. Although, in our opinion, the family Kraisler features are brought in his appearance to some absurdity. Look at the huge false radiator lattice and the eagle wings of the Chrysler emblem. By the way, developing a car for Europe, the Americans completely forgot that in the Old World it is customary to fix the license plate not only from behind, but also in front. As a result, the effect of a la Aston Martin is completely lubricated with numbers, albeit with the proud name of autopilot.
But in general, the appearance of Sebring was a success. Unlike a solid and heavy 300m, it is light and sports. This is played by the arrow -shaped shape of the body, a sloping windshield and chrome disks. At the same time, Sebring is not striking, like the same 300m. Such a car will quite arrange a driver who does not like to call the eyes to others too much, but appreciates originality. About Sebring cannot be said that it looks like another European or, God forbid, a Japanese car.
On eagle wings. They sat down, started. The first impression, until they moved, is very quiet in the cabin. Sound insulation is an order of magnitude higher than on native American cars. We taxi on the Yurmal highway and continue to search for sebring, firstly, Americanisms, and secondly, character traits worthy of a glorious name. The first is less, the second - more and more.
American cars behave well on a straight track. Then they go powerfully and evenly. In other cases, they are swinging as a sailor on the shore, and an unusual driver or passenger can easily begin marine illness. Sebring is deprived of this shortage - it is felt that the suspension has undergone additional tuning. The transition of the Chrysler company to a two -winged suspension in front and multi -leafing back also affects. The influence of Daimler is again felt. Sebring quite a European way holds the way, especially in a bundle of turns.
It is practically not realistic to demand sports behavior from an American with a machine gun for that kind of money. Sebring is no exception. In automatic mode, the box switches up too quickly, preventing the motor from completely open in lower gears. Nevertheless, the car is accelerated quite worthy. However, having an engine with a volume of almost three liters under the hood, he could gain 100 km/h faster than in more than 10 seconds. The automatic transmission is clearly guilty, which works with a characteristic American delay. If you constantly keep the pedal in Kik-Dawn mode, then the Sebring accelerates a little more active, but the fuel consumption immediately rolls over all reasonable limits, and the fuel sensor arrow falls almost before our eyes.
The manual mode allows you to squeeze from the 200-horsepower engine almost maximum. You should not be afraid of excessive load on the nodes and mechanisms - electronic systems will not allow the engine crossroads from too forgotten drivers and will still be thrown into a higher gear. But this happens much later, when the tachometer arrow is almost in the red zone.
WHO ARE YOU? Sebring, of course, is an American car, although it is focused on the European consumer. Therefore, he will definitely interest fans of the American style, for which the number of cup holders is more important than the number of devices. Those who appreciate the spacious and roomy salon with the spirit of America are often disapproving with new -fangled bells and whistles in the form of liquid crystal displays and climate installation control sensors.
Most of all Sebring is attractive in terms of external design. It is original, but discreet. It will quite fit both for the role of a representative car for a manager, and for the role of a utilitarian family sedan for every day. Alas, we are forced to noted that he did not justify his high -profile name and is hardly worthy of the true fans of the sports style. He is far from outstanding successes on the racing highway in Florida. But this car can find your place among those for thirty. Despite a fairly high price.
