The Chevrolet Captiva crossover appeared on the Russian market in 2006, two years later the model underwent restyling. The car immediately gained popularity among Russian motorists who estimated spaciousness, dynamic appearance and competitive price.

The appearance of the Chevrolet Captiva was really successful. No wonder the design of the Korean design center GM was engaged in the development of design. The cunning look of the anterior optics, a massive bumper with round windows of fog, a radiator grille with a branded Cross Captiva is not aggressive, but at the same time not devoid of dynamism.

Despite the fact that Kaptiva is far from new, we still had a reason to test this crossover again. The Russian representative office of General Motors has a Chevrolet Captiva in Stayling from the German tuning studio Irmscher, which specializes in the brands of Opel, Saab, Chevrolet and Cadillac.

The premiere of Chevrolet Captiva from Irmscher took place on a motor show in Geneva in 2009, and only now the car got to Russia. Captiva received a new lining on the front bumper, aluminum side thresholds, an elegant spoiler on the fifth door, as well as 20-inch wheels. But the tuners were not limited to external changes. The suspension used 30 mm springs, which made the appearance of the captiva more dynamic, and also improved the stability of the crossover.

As a result, the Chevrolet Captiva has turned into a projectile attracting attention from the average crossover.

In the cabin, we could not find changes. There is still quite high-quality materials and archaic design with green lighting and a-bell shelf instead of a full display. The test captiva was produced at the Russian General Motors plant in St. Petersburg, as evidenced by Russian-speaking signs under the hood. Contrary to the common opinion that the assembly of foreign cars at Russian enterprises is worse than foreign, the crossover salon was assembled without a flaw with even gaps between the panels.

The cabin is spacious. Convenient front chairs, good ergonomics, everything in its place. I did not like the frankly large steering wheel, which, according to tradition, migrated to the capiva from purebred Americans. In addition, the audio system buttons on the steering wheel are not highlighted, which complicates navigation in the dark.

The back is spacious. Due to the absence of the central tunnel, three passengers will be comfortable here. Two folding places lurked in the trunk. Adults here, of course, are cramped, but the children are just right.

Under the hood of the test Chevrolet Captiva, a 3.2-liter V6 that issues 230 hp is already familiar to us. If the start from the place is quite peppy (according to a passport up to 100 km/h, Captiva accelerates in 8.8 seconds), in motion more than 1.8-ton mass makes itself felt. In addition, dynamic driving is fraught with a large consumption of fuel, while in a calm mode, the city town showed 13.5 liters per 100 km.

Spectacular 20th wheels and lowered suspension not only made the exterior more catchy, but also improved handling. Even on the winter studded rubber, Chevrolet Captiva holds the line perfectly and does not fall on a dynamic bundle of turns. You can only be supposed to be slammed behavior in a rut, which is actually inevitable for vehicles with wide rubber. In rainy weather, due to the wide wheels of the sides of the crossover, they are contaminated at one point. The dirt from the wheels even falls on the inside of the door handles. In addition, you need to take more care of the pits on the road and not to jump around the borders a low 35th rubber profile does not forgive such pranks.

Finding Chevrolet Captiva from Irmscher was virtually impossible. Most dealerships did not even hear about such a miracle. In one car dealership, the seller said that there is such a car, but only in the only copy, and they were not sold with them. The more or less sane answer was obtained only in the sixth of the dealer center, where the manager proposed to independently find this styling complex and install them on their service station.

However, the answer about the purchase and installation of styling from Irmscher still managed to find. It turns out that the car came to us for a test even before the start of official sales in Russia. The ability to install and purchase it will appear in May, when Chevrolet dealers will have the first commodity kit. As a result, the ability to decorate your Captiva will still be spectacular thresholds and alloy disks. It remains only to wait a bit ...
