To be honest, riding the BMW Activehybrid X6, which, together with the usual gasoline engine, is also equipped with two electric motors, differs little from a trip on a regular car. I pressed the gas, drove my leg to the left, slowed down, that is, the control algorithm did not change on the iot. The fact that you are inside the hybrid can be guessed only on special devices. Having a look below the tachometer, you can evaluate the degree of charging of the battery and understand whether you are going on gasoline or electricity. This allows the driver to manage X6 so that for a long time to move without connecting an internal combustion engine.
On this, the external differences from the usual X6 end. And it is right. After all, if already expensive hybrids are difficult to manage, then they will simply not have a chance of mass consumption. Who needs gold, and besides, obscure vehicles?! No one wants to study again.
And still the question remains. Of course, in the civilized world, ecology problems are much more scrupulous than in our mother-Russia. But even there, only you can’t force anyone to overpay calls to the protection of the environment. The way out was found thanks to the creation of very powerful and at the same time environmentally friendly machines. If you want a quick car, buy a hybrid. You don’t have to go far for an example. Our X6 is gaining the first hundred for 5.6 s. True, the maximum speed turned out to be some kind of maximum only 236 km/h. But we have nowhere to fly with such a speed. In addition, this is simply prohibited by law, and therefore we will not consider this dynamic indicator a disadvantage.

BMW ActiveHybrid technology allows you to move both on one electric protrusion and using an internal combustion engine. A combination of both modes is also possible. Movement without emission of CO2, that is, only in an electric trim, is possible up to 60 km/h. The ICE is connected depending on the requested load and is automatically turned off in the forced idle modes at speeds below 65 km/h. Our tests confirmed that for the driver and passengers the moment of switching from one mode to another remains invisible. Even at high speeds in the cabin, almost complete silence remains, which can only dilute the sound of a high -quality musical complex.

When braking or releasing the accelerator pedal, kinetic energy is converted into electric and accumulated in the battery. Depending on the road situation, one or both electric motors perform the generator function. Energy recovery
To obtain electricity accumulated in a highly effective battery, the BMW Activehybrid X6 uses an improved energy recovery system during braking, which is already equipped with modern BMW models, driven by one ICE. In the phases of forced idle and inhibition, electric motors perform the function of generators for charging a high -voltage battery. Thus, energy is used, which in traditional cars is uselessly lost in the form of heat released by the brake system. Depending on the speed, this task can be performed either by one or both electric motors.
The power generated in the generator mode is almost 50 kW, which is about 25 times higher than that of the energy recovery system for inhibition previously used. Additionally, both electric motors in the generator mode create most of the brake moment necessary for slowing the car. An electric brake system in a purely recovery mode allows you to implement a slowdown of up to 3 m/s2 or 0.3 G. This makes a noticeable contribution to the unloading of the mechanical brake system.

Our opinion
The first test of the hybrid BMW took place in the warm Miami, where even in winter the temperature rises above 20 degrees.
