A guy with oddities
We get acquainted with the hybrid five BMW.Disputes around hybrid cars do not subside since the appearance of the first priece: is it necessary or not? Expensive or normal? Economical or not? Is it advisable to buy a hybrid?
BMW has their own answer to this question: they are not going to save, they think about the appropriateness last, and Bavarians put up prices for their hybrids simply sky -high. Weird? Not really.
For BMW, her new Active Hybrid 5 hybrid is already the third in the lineup. At first there were x6 (already, by the way, withdrawn from production) and 7 seria, now the turn of the five came, and soon a hybrid treshka will appear.

Outwardly, ActiveHybrid 5 is not much different from the usual BMW five: the nostrils are painted in silver, special nastics appeared on the rear racks and trunk lid, special aerodynamic wheels of Streamline and unique coloring Bluewater.
In appearance, an assemblisa act is an ordinary sedan. Only special wheels and hybrid nurses on the body give it out. The power plant is also nothing revolutionary: it is built around a three-liter biturbo-motor operating on gasoline and includes an electric motor-generator (55 forces, 210 nm) integrated into the housing of eight-speed automatic transmission, and a battery block that has eaten 165 liters of useful volume trunk. As on most hybrid cars, the electric motor works either alone, with small loads, or the internal combustion engine helps in a situation where increased returns are required. In practice, this means that at low speeds, ActiveHybrid 5 is able to move silently, only in an electric protrusion. But it’s difficult to get used to how cars move to a test drive under a quiet rustle at the hotel, and not under a well-fed roller rod, it is difficult. Unusual.

There is no cardinal difference in controllability and dynamics between the hybrid version and gasoline. Due to the increased power, the hybrid accelerates as assertively as the usual sedan 535i, but the turns are still not so furious. However, in Sport and Sport+ the hybrid five is good: sharp gas, quick switching, hard suspension.
You will press the gas a little stronger and immediately a gasoline engine comes to life under the hood. Moreover, he does it completely imperceptibly: silently and without additional vibrations. Only special diagrams on the central display always show in what mode the car is now driving, and the special -actor indicator is every now and then hints at a more careful handling of the accelerator.
How is it harder? The Portuguese serpentines, invitingly looping along the coast, are asked to have to be burnt properly. The temptation is too large: Down with the Eco Pro, the sluggish and economic regime, which allowed me to save virtual 3.5 kilometers of the run! I jump immediately after two positions of the regulators to the correct Sport and find out BMW! But with some reservations.

One of the miracles that a hybrid is silent for silent movement at low loads. ActiveHybrid 5 is completely inaudible at a small move. Up to 60 kilometers per hour, the car can only be moved in an electric protrusion. In addition, the five knows how to turn off the internal combustion engine when driving at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour in Eco Pro mode is the so -called Coasting Mode, a cabotage mode.
Despite the fact that the total capacity of the power plant’s power plant increased to 340 horsepower, and the moment up to 480 nm, the five BMW received an additional 150 kilograms of mass in the form of an electric motor, batteries and other electrical equipment, which is a normal 535i and heavier than the dynamics of the dynamics. And a more powerful Activehybrid 5. And this means that everything is in order with the dynamics.
In the tunnel I open the window, gas on the floor and under the deaf growl intelligent and unusually restrained hybrid suddenly rushes forward. To hell with ecology!
Having sensed the gambling character of the power plant I want to pounce on the bundles of turns, like a trained dog, and tear them into shreds, as 535i can. But with ActiveHybrid 5 you have to be calmer: due to excess weight. It seems that a couple of extra passengers were forever put in the car. And even despite the fact that the trip was extremely short, I managed to feel that the hybrid should not be as clearly at the wheel as an ordinary sedan. And in the Comfort and Comfort+ modes on the autobahn, sometimes a barely noticeable buildup occurred.
But the fact that the five in new modes (of which Normal disappeared) is really very comfortable is true. And add excellent soundproofing here and get a real car not for the driver.

In Comfort and Comfort+ Activehybrid 5, it is somehow not quite similar to BMW: a light steering wheel, a very supple suspension, swing on the waves. I am ready to put up with this only in the most strangled Eco Pro mode: it is at least clear in the name of which these sacrifices for the sake of playing eco-radiology.
So for whom was this powerful, solid and stuffed with Hightek sedan created? Definitely not for us: in Russia a hybrid 5 of the series will not be sold. Activehybrid x6 sales experience and 7-series, which were not afraid of only a few, showed that the Russians are not yet ready for such cars. And the price of BMW hybrids turned out to be simply prohibitive. ActiveHybrid X6 cost a million more than the most powerful five -liter gasoline version, and the seven hybrid was estimated for 300 thousand rubles more than the most chic long -shot and all -wheel drive modification of 750LI XDRive is not the most profitable offer.

The operation of a hybrid five with a personal driver is also possible: the boss in the back will be comfortable and spacious. It offers the rear passengers of a separate climate control block, very comfortable pockets in the front seats and a folding armrest with cup holders.
For rough estimates, ActiveHybrid 5 would cost about 2.7-2.8 million rubles in Russia. And in this situation, it would be more expensive than all versions of the five, except for the top 550i and 550i XDRive. The difference in price with the donor - version 535i would be about half a million, and in comparison with the all -wheel drive version of the hybrid would cost 300 thousand more. And in Russia, even with the hypothetical equality of the price of a hybrid and versions of XDRive, the buyer will rather choose a car with four leading wheels than with an economical power plant. Our weather conditions and a dubious contribution to improving the environmental situation, and ephemeral savings are pushing to this.

1. On ActiveHybrid 5 models, BMW engineers used the previously not used ligament of a three-liter in-line bi-turbo six (306 forces, 400 nm) and electric motor (55 forces, 210 nm). The total power of such a power plant is 340 horsepower, the amount of torque reaches 480 nm. The thrust is transmitted to the rear wheels through an eight -speed gearbox.
2. Electromotor is integrated into a single node with an automatic transmission and is connected to the ICE with a separate clutch. The operating temperature of the node is controlled by the coolant system of the internal combustion engine.
3. Litius-ion battery, consisting of 96 cells, is located behind the rear seats and eats part of the useful volume of the luggage compartment. It has a capacity of 1.35 kilowatts per hour and an integrated cooling system. Processor American company A123. In the parking lot and in the cabinage mode, the battery supports the operation of the electric motor, which allows all systems (for example, climate control system) with a non-working ICE. On the energy of batteries ActiveHybrid 5 can drive about 4-5 kilometers at a speed of not higher than 35 kilometers per hour.
And how economical is Activehybrid 5? The fact that the hybrid is not built using a small engine, but with an initially powerful and gluttonous in -line three -liter six, suggests that no one put the goal significantly to save. But the effect is still. Of course, it is very difficult to achieve passport seven liters per hundred, I would even say it. To do this, you need to create ideal conditions of movement and go only slightly stroking the right pedal. And it’s not a fact that it will work out.

And the realities are such that it is not easy to achieve a consumption below 10 liters per 100 kilometers. And if you go on Portuguese turns in all heavy ones, then the economizer will go off the way, and the five will easily reach its native 20 liters or more. It seems that this is not in the style of BMW to make economical hybrids.
Well, for whom was such a strange hybrid created? More powerful than the donor, but also goes. Complex, but not so much as to be at the forefront. Heavy but dynamic. With an electric motor, but not so economical. And at the same time very expensive?
Firstly, for the BMW company itself, which in this way can reduce the emissions of CO2 by the model range. Well, and secondly, nevertheless for advanced and very wealthy residents of developed Europe and the USA. Only there, buyers of hybrid cars can somehow repel their costs for the purchase of an expensive toy.

For lovers to travel or skiing bad news. The volume of the ActiveHybrid 5 luggage compartment due to the battery was reduced to 375 liters (165 liters less than that of a regular sedan), and the back of the rear sofa, respectively, does not fold and the hatch for long-termers does not.
Preferential taxation, cheap parking in the center and other conquests and privileges developed abroad to the owners of the cars friendly to the environment, coupled with fuel economy, allow you to find at least some sense in the purchase of a hybrid car. Do not forget about intangible goods that become available to the drivers of a hybrid. For example, in Stockholm, cars, the level of emissions of which exceeds a certain limit, is allowed to move into a strictly designated watch. But the owners of hybrids (and other machines recognized by Environmentally Friendly - diesel engines with low fuel consumption, gas and bioethanol cars) do not fall on these prohibitions.
Therefore, more and more often near business centers in Europe, a privileged place in the parking lot is occupied by hybrid cars. Here you have the answer to the question: actual savings + social benefits + green participation \u003d at least some sense in the purchase of a hybrid.

If our state thought about this kind of benefits and stimulated the buyer both to buy and the subsequent ownership of a hybrid car, then you see, customers on the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 would have become cleaner, and the grass is greener. But so far for us hybrids are guys with oddities. They are alarming. And prices are completely scared.
Alternative
Lexus is perhaps the only company that manages to successfully sell hybrids in the Russian market. Direct competitor to the five GS 450H model. So far, the past generation sedans are still in the car dealerships, although a new model is already on the way. The total return of the power plant based on a 3.5-liter ICE is 296 horsepower and 368 nm. Hybrid GS is available only in Luxury top configuration for 2,693,000 rubles.
Audi hybrid six (A6) in the basic version is even cheaper than Lexus - from 2 million 685 thousand rubles. The power plant here is more economical. The 2-liter TFSI turbo engine and a 33-kilowatt electric motor (in total-245 horsepower, 480 Nm), engraved with an 8-speed automatic. In Germany, the hybrid version of the Audi A6 costs 10 thousand euros less than on the BMW Activehybrid 5.
Infiniti M35H in Russia has not yet been sold. But in Germany, the sedan is available for 56,600 euros. Unlike the usual M37 model (with a VQ37 engine of 3.7 liters), a 3.5 liter VQ35 engine of the last generation is installed per hybrid, which, moreover, is transferred to the Atkinson cycle. Installation power: 370 horsepower and 368 Nm. 0-100 kilometers per hour Infiniti accelerates in 5.5 seconds.
