Our next experimental was an all -wheel drive BMW 330i XDRive. Outwardly, a form of a compact 4.5-meter sedan resembles only a 330i nameplate on the trunk lid, and a couple of XDRive inscriptions on the front wings.The BMW 3-Series that appeared in 2005 with the E90 body index was doomed to become the best-selling model of the Bavarian concern and continue the glorious traditions of its predecessors E30, E36 and E46. By the time the BMW E90 exit on the market, the raging fans of the brand had already used to get used to the new appearance of the BMW model range, which promoted the great and mighty Chris Bangle, who blown up the public with his creations in the form of the BMW X3 crossover and the flagship of the 7-Series sedan brand.
Against the backdrop of the remaining new products of the BMW lineup, the treshka, on the contrary, looked more calm: the design of the novelty was deprived of risky solutions, which was taken much warmer and a year after its debut, the volume of production of BMW 3-Series reached 57% of the total number of cars with blue and white Propeller on the hood.
The BMW E90 was taken as an elongated 100 mm BMW 1-Series platform. The aluminum front suspension Mcpherson was developed from scratch, and the rear five -winged was borrowed from a penny. Thanks to the longitudinal aggregate shifted back, it was possible to achieve an almost perfect weight and reduce the moment of inertia.
As it should be in the world auto industry, after three years of its existence (in 2008), the BMW 3-Series was restored, as a result of which the head optics, the front bumper and the most controversial solution in the design of the three-lamp, became more concise. In the cabin, the update affected the door armrests, which became a little wider. In addition, new decorative inserts on the central console appeared. Oh yes! Finally, the Bamwashniki processed the unwanted Idrive to the village, after which the controller became more ergonomic, and a scattering of keys was appearing around it, responsible for the rapid inclusion of the settings of the audio system, navigation and telephone. The engines that have become more powerful and economical were subjected to modernization.
Our next experimental was an all -wheel drive BMW 330i XDRive. In the cabin, everything is laconic, but without frills in the cabin: well -given leather chairs, traditionally strict design of the central console, and pleasant wooden inserts. That's all. You just say you? But the functionality is on top.
A low, almost lying landing, a puffy steering wheel, a traditional dashboard with amber backlight and excellent informativeness here everything is in its place. You can only find fault with the innospocal steering switches of janitors and turn signals that you need to get used to.
Behind in a treshka is crowded. With the growth of the driver on comfort on a long trip, passengers are better not to count. The volume of the trunk is not 460 liters. Additional space was achieved at the expense of Runflat tires, which have increased rolling resistance to improve aerodynamic properties and are able to overcome a considerable distance in the event of a puncture, which automatically eliminates the presence of a spare wheel in the trunk.
I was even delighted with the lack of Idrive in test cars. After all, we took a powerful BMW to get a high from driving, and therefore all electronic lotions, with the exception of security systems, fade into the background.
The heart of the BMW 330i is a 3.0-liter atmospheric in-line six with direct fuel injection developing 272 hp. The maximum moment of 320 nm is available at 2750-3000 rpm, which allows you to get excellent traction from small revolutions.
The key to start, gas and a small black sedan dissolve in a cloud of dust, squeezing the riders into the chair up to maximum speeds. But there is also an inflatable version of a 3.0-liter motor with a capacity of 306 hp. It's just a hurricane!
A six -band machine with a machine gun speed jumps to the desired step. Not the slightest delay. Such a BMW is a car without compromises, it is simply impossible to go slowly on it. A clamped stiff suspension sticks a three -lane to the road. At the same time, minor irregularities are overcome with moderate comfort. As for the more pits, it is no longer to comfort passengers jump, like herring in a barrel, and the steering wheel strives to break out of their hands. At a speed of up to 120 km/h, collapse is also annoyed: the treshka begins to rush from side to side, demanding from the driver the maximum concentration. With the increase in the speed of the nervousness of reactions, the BMW 330i disappears here in its element: the steering wheel is poured with a pleasant effort, the suspension does not allow a hint of buildup. Bliss! It is only a pity that we have such roads once or twice.
When the BMW 3-Series turns passage, he filigently writes a trajectory, finding a middle ground between excess and insufficient rotation. Thanks to the all -wheel drive XDRive system, which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to predict the situation, and not respond to the already accomplished fact of the demolition of the axis.
The XDRive system carries out a stepless and variable redistribution of torque between the front and rear wheels. Using information from the wheel sensors of the DSC stabilization system (the rotation data around the vertical axis and the angle of steering wheel rotation) XDRive recognizes the situation and immediately directs the optimal torque to the corresponding axis, minimizing the insufficient or excess rotability of the car.
With ordinary rectilinear movement, the all -wheel drive system, as a rule, redistributes the moment between the front and the rear axles in the proportion of 40:60, thereby preserving the rear -wheel drive habits typical of BMW, but as soon as the XDRive will bended the possibility of sliding, then each wheel will receive exactly the moment which is necessary for maximum adhesion to the road.
It is a pity that the all -wheel drive system is available only with powerful engines, which are significantly more expensive than three -cylinder hearts. The basic value of the BMW 330i XDRive is 1,970,000 rubles, and the most affordable all-wheel drive 218-horsepower 325xi will cost 1,640,300 rubles. Yes, not cheap. But in my opinion, a depressed handling, a technological engine and one of the most advanced full -wheel drive systems in the world are definitely worth it.
