And the coupe was supplanted in the segment of cars for egoists and people who prefer the active style of driving because a two-door body is noticeably tougher than 4-door.
One of the most striking examples of the modern coupe is the latest BMW 3-series Coupe, which turned out to be on a test drive. If earlier the differences between sedans and the coupe were only in the number of doors, then the last few generations of Bavarian tremors have completely different bodies. The compartment has a lower and short roof, the body racks are more inclined, and all the plumage is completely new. Even lighting equipment has changed. The angular headlights of the sedan are replaced by more calm, and the rear lights are reminded of the past generation, it seems, BMW designers heard criticism that journalists addressed the butterfly -shaped lanterns of the sedan, and decided to make the compartment more conservative. And it turned out, I must say, perfectly. Complex, convex-whaled sides are combined with a classic silhouette of a squat compartment with characteristic, highly tilted racks. The corporate bend of the rear window, which is preserved even in the absence of the rear doors, is not forgotten. Which side you will not approach the car you can’t take your eyes off, especially with the glasses of the overall lights turned on. By the way, in combination with blue xenon headlights, yellowish circles look especially expressive.
We got a dark compartment, but with a beige, almost white salon. Such a finish looks simply excellent, but it is quite difficult to take care of it, especially in the conditions of the Moscow winter, when for some reason freshly fallen white snow instantly turns into a black, slimy slurry, eating into a car no worse than a tick. You can only fight this misfortune with the help of dry cleaning, and it will probably have to be done quite often. Beauty requires sacrifice!
Against the background of all this beige splendor, the ascetic black central console with two monochrome displays of the radio and climate control seems somewhat doubtful, they have been borrowed from the previous third one. By the way, the heating system is equipped with a REST function, which allows you to heat the salon with residual heat from the engine, which in 10-degree frost guarantees 10-15 minutes. maintaining normal temperature.
The front seats, as on other models, can be taken as the standard of car seats. Even separate adjustments are not embarrassed: the angle of inclination of the pillow and the longitudinal position are controlled mechanically, and the height and angle of inclination of the back are electrified. It is inconvenient only that when the seats are folded for planting passengers back, it is fixed, and it has to be adjusted. The legs for the legs of the rear passengers are as much as in the sedan, and the roof almost does not press on his head. But it is still uncomfortable to ride the back, first of all, there are not enough pens, for which it would be possible to hold on in steep turns, it simply would not have anything to rely on the seat belts and, in case of sharp inhibition, rest your hands on the front chair. The rear sofa is even unattainable to the neighbor’s shoulder into two independent chairs by a section of small boxes. It is just right to even talk about a lack of lateral support for the rear passengers, although they are clearly far from the main ones here. Just as it does not matter a fairly spacious luggage compartment, which the compartment got from the sedan.
Sitting from behind, it remains only to pray to the driver not to drive 218 horses in full speed, but this is the same as praying the gods about the loss of snow in the sugar. Riding on BMW is almost impossible. Even when you find yourself in a three -lacked and pacified mood salon, it seems to make you a direct injection in your heart, injects a portion of adrenaline and you are ready to at least half deactivating the DTC dynamic stabilization system (Dinamic Traction Control).
Like most of the latest generation BMW, electronics have three operating modes. Two extremely all turned on and everything is turned off, as well as an intermediate option, when the collar is slightly relaxed, but at the same time will not allow you to escape too far. In this mode, only the anti -industrial system is disabled, it allows you to control the control in the snow controlled, enter the light drifts and slowly twist the heel. However, electronics will not give a serious mistake, and only the driver knows about its intervention. Passengers create a persistent impression that the driver does everything himself. In the safest version with an activated stabilization system, electronics in the root stops any possible demolition and drifts. The last mode is the complete absence of electronic collars, only ABS works. At the same time, the driver needs accuracy in handling the gas pedal or the maximum concentration. Experienced drivers will ask: what about our fathers, not to mention grandfathers, drove in cars of the classic layout fifteen years ago and did not even think about various stabilization systems? Yes, but, fortunately or unfortunately, not many of them had such powerful and so sharp cars at their disposal. Fast reactions of three -tire compartment require very quick corrective movements from the driver, otherwise not far from the turn. But what a pleasure you are when you manage to carry out a car in a spectacular drift and at the same time do not fly into a snowdrift. Although, before disabling the stabilization system on public roads, it is recommended to start to practice on a closed area to start, and even better to take an active driving course at the BMW Driving School School.
Initially, we expected to get a top-top 335i compartment with the latest 3-liter turbo engine on a test drive. But for technical reasons, we got a more modest 325th. But on the road you immediately understand that the 325th does not lose anything. 218 horses, which are given by a 2.5-liter in-line six, are enough for a squat and streamlined compartment. With a sharp click on the gas, even in a pair with a wheel automatic, they are able to break into a slip at speeds up to a hundred. So before this line on a clean but cold asphalt, the compartment does not need greater power. Of course, after 150 km/h the speed of the speed set is slightly reduced, but up to 220 compartment accelerates quickly enough and is certainly capable of large exploits. Although at such a speed a 306-horsepower turbo engine would be more appropriate.
However, the real element for the compartment is not a Russian autobahn with its ruts and joints, on which the suspension is sometimes severely piercing, after which I want to get out of the car and check whether the wheel is in place. Best of all, the treshka feels when slaloma between rows on wide avenues or rings. When the entire stream goes at a speed of about a hundred, it is not difficult to hold the speedometer arrow between the marks of 140 and 180 km/h. The steering wheel is poured with a juicy reactive effort, and the machine implicitly performs all teams of the driver, playfully rebuilt through 2-3 stripes. The machine in a standard or sports mode moves the transmission at the speed of thought, and under the right foot, in addition to the supply of traction, there is always an elastic brake pedal, which allows a centimeter accurately to dose slowing down, stopping exactly where it is necessary. It is no wonder, because the compartment owes its excellent behavior on the asphalt primarily a low suspension, which is delivered to Russia from the European market without any adaptation. The accurate clearance in the BMW representative was difficult to name, but it seems that it does not exceed 12 centimeters, because the compartment clings to the bottom in the most harmless situations, for example, when driving for sinks or on the ramps of underground parking lots. However, this is perhaps the only drawback against the background of the general splendor, which could be discovered in 5 days of the test.
Oh yes, there was another little blot, but this is not even a flaw, but rather a feature of the car: the prices for 325i compartment begin at 43,900 euros, which is about 60 thousand dollars. For comparison, sedan 325, albeit with a smaller set of options, can be bought for 36 thousand euros. The 306-horsepower coupe 335 costs from 52,900 euros.
But in this case, the price only emphasizes the high status of the machine. She protects the beauty from cowardly buyers who can choose a two -door car by chance. Say, for considerations of savings. And then for several years to scold the compartment for what the light is only because it has few doors and it is inconvenient to plant children on the rear seats or for the fact that it has too hard or too low suspension. The coupe was created for those who, at least, are cheerful in spirit, and at best in love and young soul!
