The idea to purchase such a car becomes even more attractive after meeting with the wealth of his inner world. Audi has long been an art champion to furnish the interior. The driver helpfully meets a black salon, sparkling with smiles of inserts, which can be made of various materials: under aluminum, steel, carbon fiber or birch. The seats are gripped, with ventilation. And this divine steering wheel! The Audi steering wheel is not thick and not thin, not slippery and not rough, not large and not small, but as it should.
The salon is spacious. Unless the very long -legged passengers will be uncomfortable to sit behind the driver. A4, on the basis of which a squadron is built, is an excellent basis for creating such a car. The S4 body is lowered by 20 mm. The aluminum components of the suspension have reduced the unsproved mass. The suspension has more rigid settings. More powerful brakes are installed. In a word, S4 looks like an impeccable purchase.
The pluses of the minus
The first doubts arise after the most exciting, it would seem, the moment when by pressing the Start button you will wake the beast under the hood. You can hear that this is not a V8, standing on the previous, third generation, Esca. Instead of a 4.2-liter V8, a 3-liter V6 was installed, as a result of which S4 lost 11 hp, hoarsely red-reddish sounding, and most importantly, the right to withdraw chrome eights on the body. But what kind of letter T was on the nameplate next to the V6?
The 3.0 TFSI engine is a new flagship Audi, combining the direct injection of fuel and a mechanical supercharger. This engine debuted on A6, but on S4 its power is increased from 290 to 333 hp. What would it be in Ingolstadt remembered the compressor 70 years after Auto Union loud victories? Indeed, until recently, the turbine worked reliably on the prestige of the company. The reason lies in the desire for compactness. A roots-type supercharger is perfectly placed instead of a receiving tract in the V-shaped series of cylinders. The new S4 in a mixed cycle consumes only 9.7 liters per 100 km, which is 27% less than consumed the previous generation S4! At the same time, the dynamic capabilities of the car even increased: acceleration to a hundred at the sedan occurs in 5.1 s instead of 5.6 C of the predecessor. A similar ratio of dynamics in the numerator and efficiency in the denominator more than blocks speculative complaints about the superiority of the number 8 above the number 6. In principle, it reinforces these calculations and the price, which in Western Europe will be 50950 euros per sedan and 52600 per station wagon. In a word, the new S4 is just as fast, but minus two cylinders per quarter is more economical, is it not that the global crisis prescribed!

A person, in fact, does not control the car itself, but his systems. The ability to adjust the sensitivity of the gas pedal, the moment of operation of automatic transmission, the rigidity of shock absorbers, the sharpness of the steering wheel (only 24 parameters) is, of course, great. But does this all this electronic guttability of deprivation of some more important degree of freedom? You feel like a computer operator, not a driver. BUT after all, there is also ESP is serfdom and a left racer. True, it can be turned off (at a speed of up to 70 km/h), but the sports differential does not doze off, instantly turning from a means of improving maneuverability into another guide to morality, ready to crush any evasion from the correct line of behavior. And this line is determined not by a person, but by electronic droppers of common sense of common sense with a frequency of a couple of gigahertz everywhere.
The electronic brain S4 unless the driver’s thoughts reads. Yes, he does not need it. He simply replaces a person’s thoughts. And his thought is always so correct. But there are strange people who continue to say that the possibility of a mistake that you avoid thanks to your skill and experience, that is what is the essence of the term sports. It’s hard to make a mistake on the S4. This car is too calculated. It looks like a solid inventory from the sportsmaster, a treadmill with a chip and even with navigation.
