Audi A4 3.0 Quattro /6200 km

The fullest the advantages of the QUATTRO drive in the summer can be felt only when it is rain outside. With rains in Moscow in July-August, it was, to put it mildly, not very. And all -wheel drive rested. The button for turning on air recirculation on the climate control panel was much more common. In the capital's traffic jams, this saved not only from the charming trucks, but also from the smoke of burning peat bogs near Moscow. But first we had to solve some problem.

In the last publication, we talked about an annoying trouble that happened with rubber - on the sidewall of the front right wheel appeared an impressive size of a burr, and it was impossible to ride on such a bus. Since we did not find a similar tire in Moscow, the decision was made cardinal - change the entire set of tires. And the Pirelli P7 rubber appeared on the tested A4 - the novelty of the Italian concern, certified for primary installation, including Audi AG, and specially designed for cars with sports character. One of the decisive factors was the high -speed index proposed here Pirelli - up to 280 km/h. The tread on these tires is made of two parts. The first consists of a mixture of silicon -containing polymers, which guarantees excellent adhesion to both wet and dry road. And the second part from which the lower layer of the tread is made has increased rigidity, and this adds grooming rubber.

+ We felt one advantage of the Pirelli P7 at once - in the turns the rubber stopped singing. The fact is that earlier even in the most harmless roads in general roundings, if they pass at a speed of more than 90 km/h, the sound arose that passengers immediately began to grab the handles in the cabin and frantically checked whether the belt would be fastened.
- The instruction manual warns the owner of the Audi A4 about the need to regularly control the oil level. We neglected this warning, and in vain - with a run of about 5000 km, an icon caught fire, which meant that not everything was in order with oil. The autopsy showed that the probe is almost dry. We added approximately 600 grams of synthetics, and the bulb went out. Only now the oil probe turned out to be unknown to us, and I had to scroll through the manual again to understand how to find the right division.

+ The Torsen differential - the basis of Quattro all -wheel drive - monitors the rotation of the wheels, but their clutch with the road in the contact spots. The redistribution of the force from the motor to the front or rear axle occurs at the right time almost instantly, in accordance with the road conditions. It is almost impossible to feel this physically during a ride, conditionally A4 is periodically done, it is more anterior, then more rear-wheel drive. Another thing is more important here: the boundaries of the permitted - passing steep turns at maximum speed - expand significantly, and at the same time the risk of breaking the machine into the skid is reduced.
