The Pontiac Firebird (Pontiac Fairbird) presented in 1967 is one of the three representatives of the class, called in those days "pony-punishes." Although there were versions of the model aimed at meeting the requests of a wide range of buyers of the sports coupe, its name was always associated with excellent characteristics. The TRANS AM version, named after the SCCA racing series, appeared in the late 60s, and to this day remains one of the fastest and most powerful cars in the US market. Even the basic modification develops 200 liters. p., and at the price comparable to many Japanese 4-cylinder sports coupe. In 1998, Firebird received a new front-part design and a more powerful 5.7-liter V8 LS engine from Corvette.
