Comments:

For protection during front and side blows, POLO has earned three stars. All requirements were observed, with the exception of the bias upwards of the steering wheel with a frontal impact and load on the chest at the side. With a frontal impact, the passenger salon has undergone moderate deformation, but retained integrity. Special problems in the zone near the knees were not found, and the protection of the feet and the ankles can be improved by reducing the compression size of the foot niches. When hit, it is necessary to reduce the load on the chest and the pelvic area.

Front punch:

The passenger salon retained the integrity and with a frontal impact of only a small deformation. The shift of the steering column was limited - by 71 mm back and 87 upwards. Damage to the doorway and the front panel are also recognized as limited, however, additional efforts had to open the driver's door. The passenger door opened normally. The compression of the leg niches turned out to be very strong. The mannequin sensors marked good head protection, however, the movement of the steering wheel up forced to reduce the rating. The contact of the head with the airbag was stable, and the protection of the neck is good. The pressure of safety belts on the chest, recorded by mannequin sensors, led to a decrease in the assessment. Damage to the front panel did not lead to a decrease to the protection of the chest, as they were moderate. With a frontal blow, the left knee of the driver hit under the lever adjustment of the steering column position, based on the solid bracket. Right knee hit the panel to the right of the column, pressing it at 90 mm inside. Although dangerous elements in the area did not detected, the burden on the joint was above the norm. Based on the testimony of the sensors of the mannequin, the driver's knee protection was recognized as normal, and this assessment was not reduced, taking into account drivers of various types and in various positions. A very strong compression of a niche for the legs suggests that the estimate for the protection of the feet and the ankles of the driver will be low. Protection of the passenger's head, as well as his neck, knees, hips, pelvis, feet and ankles recognized good.

Security of passenger children:

For use in Polo, the manufacturer recommended baby chairs Bobsy 18. With a frontal blow, the displacement of the chairhead turned out to be small, but the upper body of the body leaned forward, which caused an even greater shift of the child's head. When you hit the side, the displacement of the chair installed in the rear seat was minimal - its upper part was moving simultaneously with the central line of the car. The child's head did not jump out of the chair.

Side strike:

High load on the upper "edge" mannequin from the seat belt with side impact meant poor protection of this area. The protection of the driver's head was good, and the pelvic and abdominal departments - worse.

Pedestrian safety:

Child's head protection. Three of the six points provided protection better than the average, and three are worse: above the glass washer tank, the timing cover and the suspension stand. Protection of the top of the legs. All three points - near the castle of the hood cover, on the inner border of the headlight and above its center - provided protection worse than the average. Protection of the head of an adult pedestrian. One point showed the result above average, and two - worse: on the surface of the hood and over her loop. Protection of legs. All three points showed the result worse than the middle. They were located in the center of the bumper, above the towing eye and under the inner boundary of the headlight.
