Comments:

Passat received five stars for protecting adult passengers. Experts allowed a repeated side blow to the pillar after amending the design of safety and roof curtains. The car body turned out to be extremely durable, having undergone a minimum deformation with a frontal impact and protecting adult passengers well. The protection of children, however, was not so complete: with a frontal impact, a large load acted on the chest of the elder. The protection of pedestrians is recognized as good enough, scoring 17 out of 36 possible points.

Frontal blow:

The body has undergone minimal deformation, together with two -stage front airbags, pretense and strap load limiters, protecting adult passengers well and holding the load on their chest cells and legs at a low level. However, the driver risked getting his legs injured due to a blow to the steering column. The legs for the legs were not deformed much, and the displacement of the pedals was under full control.

Safety of passenger children:

The front airbag of the passenger could be turned off using a switch in a print box. A warning was located nearby, and the status of the pillow was displayed on the screen of the central console. The eldest child was located in the VW Britax Romer Duo Plus armchair “in the direction of movement”, fixed using ISOFIX and safety straps. With a frontal blow, sensors in its chest recorded a large load. The junior passenger was planted in the VW Britax Romer Baby Safe Plus chair, installed “against the direction of movement” using ISOFIX and floor support. His defense was good and complete.

Side blow:

The system of protection for lateral strikes included side pillows and safety curtains, which also protected the second row passengers. In this category, Passat scored the maximum number of points.

Pedestrian safety:

Pedestrian protection was acceptable. The bumper met the requirements, and the surface of the hood softened the blow of the child’s head. The head of the adult was also protected, but not so good. The front edge of the hood to the feet of pedestrians did not provide significant protection.
