Protection of adult passengers:
With a frontal impact, the Volkswagen Passat passenger salon retained integrity. Frontal airbags, pretensioners and front belt safety limiters were able to prevent excessive movement of adult passengers forward. All this equipment and strength of the design helped to keep the load on the chest and the legs of the driver and the passenger in the safe limits. However, the driver risked to get foot injuries from contact with the steering column. The niche for the legs was not strongly deformed, and the control over the displacement of pedals was reliable. The side impact protection system provides for the presence of airbags built into the front seats for breasts and security curtains, which also protects the heads of the rear passengers. Passat earned the maximum number of points in this test.
Security of passenger children
In the compartment of the car there is a switch of a frontal airbag passenger. Next to it imprinted label with instructions. Safety status is shown on the central console. The eldest child was located in a Britax Romer Duo Plus (Volkswagen), installed in the direction of motion of the Children's chair (Volkswagen), secured using the ISOFIX system and safety strap. In the frontal crash test on the chest of the older child, high loads have accounted for. The younger was planted in the Britax Romer Baby Safe Plus (Volkswagen), installed against the direction of movement using an ISOFIX fastener system and an additional support leg. The child was reliably protected in all trials.
Protection of pedestrians
Pedesther's safety was at a satisfactory level. Good defense showed control points on the bumper, and the upper part of the hood provided a mitigating effect in the area of \u200b\u200bthe head of the child's head. He also defended the head of an adult, although not so reliably. The level of protection in the front edge of the hood, unfortunately, was too low for counting.
Protection of pedestrians
The system of course stability (ESC), as well as an alarm of non-unspecified safety belts, front-row seats are included in the basic configuration of all modifications of the model.
