Comments:

Fabia turned out to be a strong car that protects adult passengers well. The front pillow of the passenger (proposed as an option) can provide additional protection by reducing the load on the chest. Children's chairs, fixed in special points on the seats of the car, poorly coped with their task. The instructions for their installation turned out to be confusing, which could even worsen the situation.

Frontal blow:

The front pillow for the driver, which is included in the basic configuration, was well protected by the head and chest. The front seat belts are equipped with pretense, and the driver also has a load limiter. Destroyers must limit the movement of the passenger’s body forward with a frontal clash. There were no traces of the driver’s chest on the steering wheel. The front pillow for the passenger was not included in the basic package, but at the request of the manufacturer, the version with it was tested, and the results were included in the general rating. The advantages of the presence of such a pillow are better visible in several other circumstances of the collision, however, even in this case, the load on the passenger’s chest decreased. Tough elements of the torpedo were a danger to the knees of the driver, but the lower part of the legs and feet were protected quite well. The central place of the back row of seats is equipped with a simple two -point seat belt, which can cause a back injury or abdominal department.

Safety of passenger children:

The front cushion of the passenger could be installed at an additional fee, so the manufacturer had to devote the issue of warning about the danger of placing the children's chair “against the direction of movement” at this place. However, only an incomprehensible icon and a sticker on the windshield, which may be lost, concerned this question, and not one of the warnings mentioned the probability of getting serious or even fatal injuries. The use of children's seats, which are installed in special mounts in the seats of the car, are recommended for use by the Volkswagen concern. However, this became a problem, since these seats do not fulfill their functions in full. At a frontal impact, an 18-month-old child practically fell out of his chair ‘Britax Römer Prince’, installed “in the direction of movement”, intended for passengers weighing 9 to 18 kg. According to the test results, these seats were recognized as unsuitable for use in Skoda Fabia and removed from the sale as accessories for this car. Although the manufacturer has more suitable seats for this age group, Skoda does not warn about potential danger when installing the seats “against the direction of movement” opposite the airbag.

Side blow:

The mannequin head hit the central rack, but the gasket in this place did not allow any damage. There were no side airbags in the basic configuration, so a large load was provided on the chest due to the impact on the seat wing, the central rack and the pressed door. The load in this area was reduced due to the interaction of mannequin and seats, which will not be with the body of a real person. The sheathing of the door under the armrest pressed on the abdominal department. However. The overall result for a car without lateral airbags was quite worthy.

Pedestrian safety:

In terms of pedestrians, Skoda Fabia is practically no different from most cars of this class. Most of the points were obtained due to the possibility of the hood to soften the blow and due to the relatively non -hazardous windshield. Most of the control points of the front part were too traumatic.
