Comments:

Fabia turned out to be a strong car, well defending adult passengers. The front airbag of the passenger (offered as an option) can provide additional protection by reducing the load on the chest. Children's chairs, fixed at special points on the seats of the car, did not cope with their task. The instruction on their installation turned out to be confusing that it could further worsen the situation.

Front punch:

Front airbag for the driver, which is included in the basic bundle, well protected the head and chest. The front seat belts are equipped with pretensioners, and the driver also has a load limiter. Pretensioners must limit the passenger's body forward with a front collision. The traces of the blow of the chest driver about the steering wheel is not detected. The front airbag for the passenger was not included in the basic bundle, however, at the request of the manufacturer, the version with it was tested, and the results are included in the overall rating. The advantages of the presence of such a pillow are better visible in several other circumstances of the collision, but even in this case the load on the peasant passenger decreased. Torpedo hard elements were a danger to the drivers' knees, but the lower part of the legs and the feet were protected well enough. The central seat of the seats is equipped with a simple two-point safety belt, which can cause a back injury or abdominal department.

Security of passenger children:

The front airbag of the passenger could be installed at an additional cost, so the manufacturer had to pay the issue of warning about the danger of placement of the children's chair "against the direction of movement" at this place. However, only an incomprehensible pictogram and a sticker on the windshield, which may be lost, concerned this issue, and none of the warnings mentioned the likelihood of obtaining serious or even fatal injuries. For all divisions of the Volkswagen, common for all divisions of the Volkswagen concern, installed in special attachments in the seats of the car. However, it became a problem, as these chairs do not fulfill their functions in full. With a frontal impact, a 18-month-old baby practically fell out of his chair 'Britax Römer Prince' installed "in the direction of movement", intended for passengers weighing from 9 to 18 kg. According to the test results, these chairs were recognized as unsuitable for use in Skoda Fabia and seized from sale as accessories for this car. Although the manufacturer has more suitable chairs for this age group, Skoda does not prevent potential danger when installing the seats "against the direction of movement" opposite the airbag.

Side strike:

The head of the mannequin hit the central rack, but the gasket in this place did not allow any damage. In the basic configuration, there were no side airbags, so a large load was rendered on the chest due to the strike of the seating wing, the central rack and the revealed door. The load in this area was reduced by the interaction of the mannequin and the seating, which will not be with the body of a real person. The door sheath under the armrest pressed on the abdominal department. However. The overall result for the car without side airbag was quite worthy.

Pedestrian safety:

From the point of view of pedestrian protection, Skoda Fabia is practically no different from most cars of this class. Most of the points are obtained due to the possibility of the hood to soften the blow and due to the non-hazardous windshield. The majority of control points of the front part were too traumatic.
