Comments:

The first test X-trail showed the shortcomings in the design of the car, which the manufacturer decided to fix. The following are the results of the modernized car. The changes affected the increase in the strength of the body, however, with lateral impact of the pillar, the side airbag for the head still does not work, as it should. The chair established "against the direction of movement", for a 18-month-old child could not fully protect his neck and chest. Finally, pedestrian protection turned out to be worse than the middle level.

Front punch:

The body has a good blow. Delections of the driver's feet and the doorway were not strong, but the distance that the pedals of the brake and clutch were shifted, represents the security threat to the driver's legs. Passive security systems also have high pressure on its chest. The driver's left foot hit the rigid elements in the front panel, raising the risk of injury. The central seat of the seat is equipped with a three-point seat belt, providing much better protection compared to the waist.

Security of passenger children:

The children's chair for a 3-year-old passenger used ISOFIX locks and safety straps. It was located face ahead and defended its passenger with frontal and side shocks. The 18-month was located in the chair "against the direction of movement", which, however, did not protect it with a frontal impact, which is unusual, since this type of chairs is the safest for this age group. The heads of both passengers were securely fixed in both shots. If it is necessary to install a children's chair "against the direction of movement" to the place of the front passenger, the owner can contact the dealer to deactivate the airbag.

Side strike:

X-TRAIL moved well this test, as is like a high fitting with a high landing. However, the side airbags for the chest and head could not protect the driver with a side strike of the pillar: they worked on time, but the opening pillow turned out to be too small. The load was uncharacteristic for real conditions between the mannequin and the chair, reducing the readings of the sensors in the chest. The back door from the side of the blow almost revealed.

Pedestrian safety:

Protecting the head of an adult pedestrian is better than the average, which brought a car two stars.
