Comments:

Publication of test results Sorento was scheduled for 2003, however, due to problems at one stage of the test, took place only in 2004. The manufacturer used this delay to improve the degree of protection of the knees of the front riders. The car scored four stars, but shortcomings remain. In a frontal collision the front passenger subjected to the action on the thorax larger load than the driver, so the final result of the calculation of this value is used. Child seats protect the heads of their occupants in frontal and side impacts, but the 18-month-old risked chest trauma, despite the fact that his seat has been established "against the direction of movement." Pedestrian protection is virtually nonexistent.

Frontal impact:

passenger safety cage was severely damaged but not lost integrity. The steering wheel has moved back, however, at a moderate distance. Also seen significant compression and metal gap in a niche for feet and base of the front desk. Survived the threat of the knees of the front riders, though smaller than in the first test.

Child safety-passenger:

The 3-year-old passenger was located in the castles of ISOFIX and the upper fastenings of the "face forward" of the child seat, while 18-month-in the universal chair "against the direction of movement". With lateral and frontal impacts, the eldest was protected in accordance with the requirements of Euro NCAP. However, the younger risked to get injured chest at a frontal impact. This is unusual, since the chair "against the direction of movement" should minimize the risk of such injury. However, with lateral strike, the safety of the younger was at the height. Stickers with information on the installation of children's chairs are understandable, but not durable and visible only with a folded sunscreen visor of the front passenger.

Side strike:

Cars, similar to Sorento, should show good results with side shocks due to their high fit. So this SUV showed itself well by typing the maximum possible number of points.

Pedestrian safety:

Only a part of the hood, where at the middle of the head of an adult, ensured at least some softening. For protection of pedestrians before the car did not score any points. This is a very bad result, but the manufacturer promised to correct the provisions in subsequent models.
