Comments:

Focus provides full protection of its passengers. However, despite his four-star rating, something could have been improved. In particular, the left feet and the driver's skin with a frontal impact are needed in the best defense. The tested sample was not equipped with side airbags, as they are additional equipment, however, without that protection with lateral impact it turned out to be normal. Children's chairs worked well, although the head of a 3-year-old passenger was not kept in the redistribution of his seat with a side strike. Protection of pedestrians was insufficient, however, as in many other cars.

Front punch:

The passenger salon has not undergone significant deformation. Improved steering column design ensured the protection of the drivers mannequin and legs, although the rigid elements in this area are traumatic. Front pillows worked at the proper level. Indications of sensors talking about the hazard of the chest injury for the passenger turned out to be higher than for the driver, therefore they were used when the rating is calculated. The driver's door suffered seriously, but opened without problems.

Security of passenger children:

The airbag for the front passenger is included in the basic configuration, which carries a serious or even fatal injury for a child placed in this place in the chair "against the direction of movement" with an active pillow. This is reported only by the pictogram on the edge of the front panel, which, according to EURO NCAP experts, is insufficient. Ford stated that more clear warnings will be added later. In addition, when installing a chair, which was present in the test car, the pictogram was not visible from the driver's seat. Therefore, additional instructions should appear in children's chairs, which also said the manufacturer. With a frontal impact, 18-month and 3-year-old passengers were well protected, but at the side of the older, the older was not kept within the chair.

Side strike:

The driver was well protected, only the pelvic area was at risk of injury due to door armrest. Nevertheless, the test results turned out to be quite good, given the lack of side airbags.

Pedestrian safety:

The front edge of the car was very tough, especially around the bumper, and the surface of the hood at the road provides too bad protection of the head of the young pedestrian.
