Comments:

Xantia scored two stars, mainly due to poor protection of the head and chest driver with lateral impact and significant deformation of the passenger compartment at the front. Such a result also became a consequence of the weak protection of the chest, knees, hips and the pelvic region of the driver in a frontal collision. With such a blow, only the bottom of the legs turns out in relative security. The niche for the legs was too much shone inside, and the solid elements under the torpedo contributed to an increase in the risk of injury to knee, hips and the driver's pelvis. In the side strike, the driver's head hit the door rack, so the protection of this area, as well as the chest, was recognized as weak. Xantia has been equipped with a safety pillow, providing good protection in the event of a frontal collision.

Front punch:

With such a blow, the front racks are too shifted. Also suffered a lot of driver. After impact, the door from the driver had to be opened with a special tool, although it did not need it from the passenger. The steering wheel moved back by 145 mm and up by 111 mm, the brake pedal "flew out" by 208 mm, very substantially shutting up in a niche for the legs. Although the sensors in mannequin heads registered good results, the shift of the steering wheel can create a real threat to drivers of different growth, therefore the assessment has been reduced. The airbag well secured the driver's head, but the neck of things is worse. The belt is removed the chest from contact with the steering wheel. The left knee of the driver hit the trim over the knob adjustment lever. If the blow had fallen a little to the side, the knee would hit the bracket of this lever, and the injury would be serious. Right knee, in turn, broke the fuse block, and behind it is a solid design element. Again, if the blow fell a little to the side, the knee hit the bracket of this lever, and the injury would be serious, and if slightly above - the lock lock lock and the adjustment mechanism. Therefore, despite the good indications of the sensors built into the mannequin, the assessment had to be reduced. The protection of the feet and the ankles is recognized as weak due to excessive deformation of the leg niches. The overall protection turned out to be good, despite the high load on the chest (due to the seat belt) and the threat of the lower part of the right leg.

Security of passenger children:

Children's chairs are not quite suitable for the main seats, but this inconsistency is not dangerous.

Side strike:

Xantia with lateral impact does not comply with the 1998 legislative standards. The head of the mannequin hit a rack between the front and rear doors, and also there was a threat to obtain life-threatened damage to the chest, although the abdominal and pelvic areas are better protected.

Pedestrian safety:

Exactly half (3 of 6) places where the head of a shot down child will come in, comply with the established requirements. One of them is above the support of the hood, the second is over the throttle cable, and the third is on the bending of the hood. For two places, the estimates were above average, but in the third, above the corner of the battery, below. The safety of the upper parts of the pedestrian feet is not at the required level. All three tested places of the front edge of the hood - the center of the hood, the center and the inner boundary of the headlight - turned out to be worse than the middle. Only one place of the possible strike of adult pedestrians turned out to be relevant to the requirements - near the nozzles of washer. As a result, four places above average, and one below: above the hinges of the hood. Protection of feet for adults is not a strong side of the car - none of the three seats reached even to medium-sized ratings.
