Comments:
The 5th series has a very strong and reliable passenger compartment. After making changes to the design of the steering column, the site for the left legs, the door trim, door locks, airbags and software, BMW 5 was allowed to be repeated. When re-conducting the windshield and side shocks about the overlap and the pillar, the car earned four stars. With a frontal blow, a high load on the driver's chest was noted a mannequin sensors, however, protection when hitting the side was better. Intelligent Safety Alarms The safety belts is set at the front sediments. Both passenger children were well protected, which cannot be said about pedestrians.Front punch:
The body turned out to be strong, prteper only a small deformation of the passenger salon. After hitting the driver's door opened almost without effort. Matching the leg niches was minimal as the displacement of the pedal node. Passive security systems included two-stage airbags, double driver seat belt pretensioner, and single passenger, as well as load limiters of both belts. At the top of the steering column there were depreciated elements. Despite the great efforts to protect knee protection, some risk for the driver still remained.Security of passenger children:
Both children were located in the Fair Bimbo Fix chairs installed "against the direction of movement" for the younger, and "in the direction of movement" - for the elder. Protecting both turned out to be good with frontal and lateral blows. The presence of an front passenger airbag was warned by a pictogram on a central rack and a text message on the windshield. However, each of them could easily break away.Side strike:
Side airbags in the doors and curtains showed a good result, but the defense was not unequivocal: for the head and the pelvis is better than for the chest and the abdominal department.Pedestrian safety:
Pedestrian protection turned out to be very bad for which the BMW 5 series received only 2 points. The manufacturer must more seriously treat this security issue.General information about the car
