Frontal blow:

The front seat belts were equipped with load limiters and pretensors, however, even with such equipment, the load on the driver’s chest was higher than the norm. In the knee area, strict elements threatening knees and hips were found. The central place of the back row of the seats was equipped with only a two -point belt that provides worst protection compared to the three -point.

Safety of passenger children:

The safety pillow of the front passenger is included in the basic package, therefore, the child, located in the children's chair “against the direction of movement”, is in danger in this place. Experts did not find clear messages about this, so the manufacturer is recommended to take this moment more seriously. The test used BMW Junior-Eats children's chairs with the ISOFIX system. They could not hold the heads of the riders within their limits, with the exception of the younger head with a frontal impact. ISOFIX mounts should prevent incorrect installation or incomplete seats. On explanatory signs, the belt attachment circuits are made of irregular color and unstable paint.

Side blow:

The head and pelvic department of the driver were protected well, but the load on the abdominal cavity was high. Part of the side pillow of safety did not open completely, which allowed the two upper “ribs” of the mannequin to hit the sidewall of the chair. At the abdominal department, a pillow and a sidewall of an armchair showed the load. The airbag to protect the head was also included in the basic configuration and, when hitting the pillar, showed itself well. The back door opened during the blow, and after making changes to the design of this node, it was allowed to conduct a re -test.

Pedestrian safety:

3-Series provides pedestrians very poorly softening the blow. Only the hood zone, where the child’s head will fall, provided at least some protection.
