This will be called the Volvo V50 T5 AWD.He is on our list of the fourth. The fourth Volvo, which takes place of a long -term test in the editorial office. If you remember, at first there was a S40, then XC90, it was replaced by S80, and now the V50 T5 AWD is a car that is pleasant in every way. Well, or almost all.
VOLVO universals have always succeeded, did not become an exception and V50. What is surprised, because its basis was the S40, whose appearance has not caused any complaints. In any case, such people did not meet us. V50 is beautiful, if not more.
I remember that at one time I went to the S40 to the south, I regretted that the car, on which I went on such a long journey, was not a station wagon. The place in the trunk of the magpie, albeit not catastrophically, but still lacked. Today, looking at the luggage compartment V50, I realized that I had lost a bit. Alas, he did not impress with his volumes: only 417 liters. For comparison: S40 has 404 liters. The difference, as you see, is small. You can, of course, fold one or all the seats and thereby increase the cargo volume to 1307 liters, however, from the station wagon, first of all, you are waiting for a large trunk with uncomplicated seats of the second row, and then
Aerodynamics were not too pleased. More precisely, the ability of the car is getting dirty. And if dirty feed (disease of all universals) is perceived for granted, then the shabby sides are annoying. Open the doors without stinging your hands will not work. But this is a trifle compared to the fact that in slushy weather the glass door glass is strongly dirty: a clear miscalculation of designers. The fact is that the gutter, which should not let the dirt from the windshield on the door, apparently, is not sufficiently developed, which becomes the cause of strong pollution of the glass. True, this happens only at a speed of more than 120 km/h, which means that with a calm, measured ride around the city this does not happen.
That's just going to T5 calmly and measuredly quite difficult. It is not created for this. Its horse is speed and speed again. Think for yourself, what to purchase a car that can accelerate to hundreds in 7.6 seconds, then to drag along the sidewalk. After all, you do not buy an ultra -modern computer only to play Tetris on it. So they take T5 to travel dynamically. And at the same time safe.
And for this, the Volvo V50 T5 AWD, believe me, is capable of. Firstly, thanks to a powerful turbocharged motor. Paradoxically, it is his power that avoids many unpleasant situations. Most accidents are due to the fact that drivers overestimate the capabilities of their cars, in connection with which they get into an accident (I thought that it would slip, but there wasn’t enough motor). On T5, it is not competently to slip problems. It is enough to drown the gas pedal on the floor, and the car breaks off. But the most important thing is that at such moments she does not care under the wheels - dry asphalt or rolled snow. Due to the presence of all -wheel drive, the speaker in both cases is practically unchanged.
Full -wheel drive is very useful in parking in urban conditions in winter. To think about whether there are not necessary under the wheels of snow at the sidewalk. V50 AWD allows you to confidently park even where the snow reaches the lower cut of the bumper: it is almost impossible to stall. So, there is more chances to find a parking place. And, of course, the all -wheel drive provides an invaluable service on the highway. The car even at a fairly high speed goes along the slippery coating, like a letters train along the rails.
Nevertheless, you should not overestimate the capabilities of the car. As you know, it is quite difficult to disrupt an all -wheel drive machine into a skid, but it is even more difficult to remove it from this skid. The V50 AWD is no exception, but due to the presence of electronic stabilization systems that do not release it from control for a fraction of a second, risk is significantly reduced. Any self -will of the car is stopped instantly and very competently. So competently that it begins to seem like a successfully spelled out turn or a professionally made rearrangement is exclusively your personal merit. However, it is worth turning off the system how everything falls into place. However, even in this case, electronics, although not so zealously, is monitoring what you are doing, and in a critical situation will surely correct your miscalculation. Only this time its intervention will be rude: engine speed will drop sharply, ABS will work or openly brake one or another wheel. In general, you will immediately understand who really keeps the situation under control.
It is worth mentioning another electronic system, which the V50 T5 AWD is equipped with optionally: a starting heater that significantly facilitates the life of the driver in winter. You must admit that it is nice when the car itself warms up by the car and the interior. The main thing is to properly plan your day and accurately guess the start time from the parking lot: the car at this point will wait for you in full combat readiness. The only thing to consider: the operating time of the starting heater (about 60 minutes) should be equal to the total time on the way per day, then the battery will be completely restored. In conditions of downtime in city traffic jams, this is completely simple.
It is much more difficult not to become a victim in the same traffic jams. Oddly enough, in the right outer mirror there is no segment through which you can observe the dead area. So it is quite difficult to control the situation to the right of the car. Not everything is in order and with a review through the salon: a sloping roof and huge rear racks interfere. Fortunately, when maneuvering in reverse, parking sensors are saving.
However, what should we look at the lagging! And there are a lot of them, as the experience of operating this car shows, both in the city and on the highway. And this cannot but amplifying pride. Disadvantages? .. So who does not have them! The main thing is that they do not dominate the merits. And the advantages of the Volvo V50 T5 AWD are incomparably larger.
