The reason for my interest was the sum of several factors: firstly, for a comparable price, the Swedish manufacturer offers a noticeably richer package than Audi; Secondly, I heard about the legendary safety of these machines, and finally, despite its Chinese owners, Volvo remains a quality and comfortable European machine, which, in theory, should compete with German cars.
In order to find out whether it is or not, and finally decide on the choice, I decided to conduct a more object comparison of these models.

Audi is trying in every possible way to emphasize dynamism and sports: low landing, seats with high side support, a short steering wheel ... and absolutely amazing handling! The car is very nimble for its size, but stands in the strip and obey the steering wheel, as in a computer game. The suspension is adjusted under a dynamic ride, but, nevertheless, it is much softer than that of Volvo. Small defects in the roadway are invisible at all, and large ones, like lying policemen, do not force the car to bounce. You get used to excellent brakes so fast that after a while the ride style becomes more sharp.

However, the Audi sports spirit brought with it a small bunch of shortcomings. The first point here is the suspension and engine. Of the entire five modes of the suspension, I found practical meaning in only two: comfortable and sports. And if the car rides irritably tightly, but very smoothly, then the car begins to behave very nervously in the dynamic, then kicking in the back when accelerated, then trembling with the entire body on switching down when slowing down. In addition, Audi was quite low when landing, I often touched the roof with my head.

Of the interesting features of Audi, it is worth noting the Start/Stop system, which turns off the motor during stops. I ran into this thing for the first time, and at first it confesses a little discouraging. As far as I know, most of this system immediately turn off and drive the old fashioned way. But I tried to get used to it, and, I must say, after a while I just stopped noticing the moments when the engine stalls. Yes, of course, a certain period of adaptation is needed (for example, if the engine starts with twisted wheels, then the steering wheel can even knock out of your hands), but it's nice, standing in a deaf traffic jam, realize that you do not waste gasoline and do not pollute the atmosphere .

Some disappointment from the appearance of the S60 compared to A4 instantly disappears, it is worth driving behind the wheel of a Swedish machine. Inside is a real spaceship! In addition to the fact that for the price of the almost basic version of the A4 you can take a luxury package of the S60 with a navigator, adaptive xenon, hatch and rear view camera, there are no options in the Volvo on Audi in principle. For example, the BLIS system monitors cars that are behind in the neighboring rows. If an orange light is burning, you do not need to rebuild. And in the S60 there is a system of retention in the strip and the Volvo-on-Call system (car control from a smartphone).

I seemed to have no complaints to the convenience of Audi governing bodies, but the difference becomes clear already with the minimum experience of operating S60. Where in A4 the phone number needs to be dialing an uncomfortable wheel, a full -fledged digital keyboard is offered in Volvo. If in A4 the operating mode of the gearbox should be chosen by pressing one button repeatedly and monitoring the small indicator, then in Volvo one is highlighted in one well -accessible large button for each mode. A4 squeaks heartily if you get out of the car, forgetting to turn off the head light, and Volvo silently turns it off itself. The entire interface is intuitive and easily accessible, the leadership had to climb only once to find out how to make the car automatically fold the mirrors after closing the central castle.

As for the management, compared to A4, of course, some bargot like the car is noticeable, as if you were sitting in a huge representative of the representative class, but this can be used to it. Total, if you discard such an Audi, which are undoubted, but unimportant for me, as a stylish appearance and prestige of the brand, in the dry rest I came to the contrast of excellent controllability A4 and space filling with amazing Ergonomics S60. Definitely one among these two factors is not easy for me to choose, so the final point in the choice should put the price. And she significantly pulls the scales in favor of the Swedish model.

MY CHOICE
The connoisseurs of German cars will, of course, be surprised, but my choice in this case Volvo S60. I am not going to somehow stand out on the roads, nor emphasize my status, nor aggressively move in the stream, most likely it will be a completely ordinary, boring operation of the car. And in this regard, the incomparable ergonomics and that proposed Volvo functionality that can remove the part of the routine actions to control the machine from me is much more important.
EDITOR'S CHOICE
We had a really very difficult choice: excellent handling or electronic assistants, sports style or maximum comfort, Teutonic spirit or Swedish security. Audi is famous for ergonomics and controllability, and if the second point is indisputable, then by ergonomics Volvo is subjectively better. But the S60 consumes more fuel and less clear in motion. The basic equipment of the S60 includes almost all possible helping systems, but the Audi is more stylish and sports ... None of the cars presented do not have a definite advantage, they are simply suitable for different people. Therefore, opinions in the editorial office were divided and in order to choose one thing, I had to throw a coin. And the ruble, which in this case protects several thousand of his own kind, voted for Volvo S60.
