New Subaru outback: impenetrable

Together with the new Legacy, Subaru refreshed its off -road version - Outback. Kolesa.ru met with an all-wheel drive station wagon at a mini-presentation organized by RRT auto-holding and looked at the defective roads of the North-West of the Russian Federation in a new way.

What's new
On paper, the new Outback went around the predecessor immediately for a couple of buildings. If only because the 2010 model became larger: 45 mm longer, wider by 50 mm, and the wheelbase grew by as much as 75 mm! The trunk for 65 liters with the seats raised became more spacious. Instead of a 3.0-liter gasoline engine, a 3.6-liter 365-horsepower Tribeca unit is now offered, and a new wedge-like variator has arrived to replace the machine. The view from the inside also cannot be compared with the ascetic interior of the predecessor, but the changes outside did not affect the general perception of the car. Universal as a station wagon. Has the clearance became higher by 10 mm? Well, glorious. And now 210 mm? Great

Complexes
Subaru is working on when preparing a new outback is on the quality of materials. If in the salon, plastic softer and seats are more comfortable more premium rivals would have to be tight. Something needs to be done with a mechanical checkpoint; My colleague for a test crew, from another publication, since five or six stalled, not understanding how to handle gas and clutch pedals. Indeed, the left pedal has an incomprehensible reverse effort and carefully conceals the moment the clutch starts, so not every driver will turn smoothly at once.
And Outback also seemed a little noisier than Legacy, but partially this can be justified by winter friction tires installed on the station wagon.

Driver
One way out of town! Within the rings, whether it is a cad or MKAD OUTBACK is quite rumps and heavily heels if it is prying it with sharp maneuvers. But we must pay tribute to an enlarged wheelbase: longitudinal buildups during braking and starting became less than on the previous outbume.
And on the off -road fairy tale! The suspension endowed with monstrous energy intensity smoothes even the most broken country road, gently and reliably working levers and shock absorbers. Representatives of the car dealership did not deceive, warming the interest of journalists, they say, the suspension of Outbek is impenetrable! How many did not try. And we did not work out.
The interior, it seemed to me, did not become more friendly to the driver. Yes, the former salon was all dark and visually cramped to the touch, but sat like old jeans. The new light from gray faceted plastic is really more spacious perceived as a more expensive, but business suit, sewn on common patterns. And if you evaluate it again on paper, then the advantages, of course, are evident: a new two -dine radio eliminates the need to independently install foreign devices, new devices are more interesting, and the handbrake has become electronic and received an auxiliary anti -traffic system.

Passengers
The new outback will like more than the previous one. 100%. A spacious salon, acoustic comfort and soft suspension is difficult not to evaluate both in the city and beyond. Two passengers will be especially happy: the rear sofa is obscured for two, and its back, divided into two segments, can be adjusted along the angle of inclination.

Price
Subaru Outback in the base version with a 2.5-liter engine and mechanics costs from 1,363,500 rubles. You can add the variator for an additional 58,000 rubles. Universals with top 3.6-liter engines and automatic machines are sold for 1,959,100 rubles.
