Unlike other Subaru manufacturers, it puts the coupling not on the rear axle, but directly in the gearbox, and it works in the same liquid as the transmission. Hence her reliability. We all know how easy it is to boil the usual multi -disc clowing in the rear gearbox. A few minutes of a good axle box and you can drink coffee while it cools. But the volume of fluid in the automatic transmission is several times larger than in the gearbox, and this protects the Subaru coupling from overheating well.


The spare wheel is not included in the basic configuration. For it you need to pay 3500 rubles.

Play as much as you like with the most reliable multi-disc clowing in the world, but never try to reach the second type of Subaru all-wheel drive with Wi-Mufta. It stands at the Outback 2.5 liter configuration with manual transmission and plays the role of blocking. And the moment redistributes the usual differential, the manufacturer calls it conical. Several times I tried to use this term when conversations with friends (car journalists), but everyone thought that I was talking about horses. And the electronic multi-disc clowing was used not only because of its speed and reliability, but also for layouts, because, as already mentioned, the Subaru specialists learned to hide it directly into the automatic transmission.

Cracability is more expensive than pleasure
Thus, we have the cheapest, morally obsolete and not too reliable all -wheel drive on Subaru 2.5 liters with a mechanical transmission. At the peak, he is a super -free coupling on versions of 2.5 liters with a variator. And, as a humiliation for the latter, the most expensive scheme for a 3.6 liter engine with automatic transmission with a redistribution of the moment for more savory controllability.

All our attempts to plant outback and try to leave in order to somehow check the theory, ended in complete collapse. The test took place at a time when 60 centimeters of snow fell in Moscow in two days in Moscow. Strongly forced, we found a place where the cover was not higher than 30 centimeters. The second round of the struggle broke out on the asphalt track. The best circle and the greatest pleasure in control showed a version on mechanics. It is difficult to cope with the variator on the gyrus of the short route, the connection between it and the gas pedal is thin and is low. And the most powerful outback with a machine gun, due to the foul front, simply flew out of the turn.

Total: Drive gives version 2.5 l of the manual transmission, and passability provides equipment of 3.6 l of the automatic transmission.
