The new generation of the intelligence officer met the best expectations. One question was left: will it be possible to cope with the main drawback of this machine at a price?

During the fleeting test of real off -road, only an impromptu off -road highway from several mounds, with which the car coped playfully, could not try. But for the tasks where the asphalt ends, SCOUT has a serious argument, perhaps, this is the main feature of the updated version. The full -wheel drive system is now a modern Haldex IV clutch, already familiar from a number of other VAG models. In it, the mechanical adjustment of the compression pressure of the discs was replaced by an electric one. And the Haldex IV works is guided by signals from the ABS sensors in conjunction with the stabilization system.

Depending on the needs, up to 85% of the torque can be transmitted to one of the wheels. Now Scout is much more calmly coping with diagonal hanging just in this test route allowed to verify. As in the fact that outside the asphalt you still have to be careful: the road clearance in 179 mm, although not small, but does not allow to storm particularly deep ruts without looking back. But no one is positioning this all-wheel drive station wagon as an extreme SUV. His task is a compromise.

And a compromise manages! Returning on the highway, Scout behaves at all as an ordinary station wagon of this class. Energy -intensive, elastic suspension, lack of unnecessary rolls. And without that, a good overview of the station wagon is complemented by successful, large mirrors. The picking up an almost silent motor somewhere from 2700 rpm, elastic thrust. Having galloped, you can, without noticing, even exceed the high -grade maximum speed acceleration to 140 km/h is almost not felt, and then, at least up to 190 km/h, the set is almost fading. The 160-horsepower 1.8TSI engine in separate performances does not need it easily accelerates and a much larger Superb.
It was possible to try a car with a two -liter turbodiesel, although it is noisy, it suits the scout perfectly, providing a solid moment and at the same time spending almost a third less fuel than a gasoline engine. It is a pity that diesel for Russian sales is not planned.

The diesel engine is good for scout, but, alas, in Russia it is not offered by manufacturers to offer a dock or reprimatum, but in our conditions the old kind stock is still more appropriate between the main part of the trunk and the reserve wheel compartment a small useful underground
