For the first acquaintance with the new Peugeot 508, I went to Istru near Moscow, where the Russian department of Peugeot organized a test drive for media representatives. The new Peugeot 508 shares one platform with Citroen C5 and is designed to close two gaps in the Lviv modeling range at once, which formed morally outdated models with indices 407 and 607. And besides a decent replacement of previous models, the new flagship should strengthen in the two largest markets in Europe at once And China, and even attract a male audience to the brand, which the company began to lose, focusing on the production of compact cars.

The length of the Peugeot 508 is 4792 mm, width 1853 mm, a height of 1456 mm. This is longer than the Peugeot 407, 116 mm, but shorter than the 608th by 79 mm. Outside the 508th is good. The design of the sedan successfully combines French motifs, German severity and Asian cunning. Unlike the four hundred seventh front and rear overhangs of the 508th model, they almost equalized, and the wheelbase was stretched by 92 mm. Now the sedan looks not only balanced, but also differs more spaciousness.

The salon breathes in quality. The plastic used for interior decoration is almost everywhere soft and pleasant to the touch, assembly at a height. This is almost premium. Before German lawmakers, the quality of Peugeot remains only to work on an insufficiently verified effort on the governing bodies: the pens of climate control and the joystick of the control of multimedia are still poorly informative. The ergonomics of the claims is at least. The landing is convenient, the profile and lateral support of the seats are successful, the control ranges are sufficient.


The quality of the interior decoration does not raise questions. The plastic is soft and high -quality, the assembly is at a height, and in the list of options there is a finish by the NAPPA skin. Ergonomics are also not bad: the landing is convenient, the control ranges are sufficient.

The dashboard is read perfectly, the color display in the center is pleasant to the eye, and the speedometer, cruise control and navigation are duplicated on a special projection screen. The keys on the steering wheel are convenient and in rich trim levels duplicate all the necessary functions. The steering wheel itself is moderately chubby, pleasantly falls in his hands, has special tides for natural grip and a sports cut below.

There are now truly premium options that some German competitors cannot boast of. Among them are built-in seats massage, NAPPA skin finishing, four-zone climate-kotrol and a powerful audio system with JBL acoustics.


The dashboard reads well. 2-zone climate control and an audio system with a USB port are already offered in the basic version. In the secret glove compartment on the left hid the control keys of the projection display, as well as the ESP and Parktronics shutdown buttons. Optionally on the Peugeot 508 you can order a 4-zone climate control.

As in the Citroen C5 nozzle, the PEUGEOT 508 galleries are conditionally enough. Of course, Ford Mondeo and VW Passat are inferior in terms of the number of space space, but provided that the driver of medium height, behind you can get up with proper comfort. The volume of the trunk is inferior to the main competitors, under the floor there is a dock. The cover, although equipped with a powerful inner handle, is closed too tight, so you will have to dirty your hands in any case. The rear sofa folds in parts, forming an almost even floor and a large opening.

Engines for the Peugeot 508 in Russia are offered four: two gasoline and diesel. With gasoline technology, Peugeot is not in the best way, therefore, in the 508th, the French installed a familiar 1.6-liter joint development of the PSA Peugeot Citroen and BMW. In the atmospheric version, its power is 120 hp, turbocharged 150 hp. Diesel engines. To anyone else, a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with a return of 136 forces, but who loves a hotter is if you please the GT set with a new 2.2-liter unit with a capacity of 204 hp. By the way, specially for 508 GT in Peugeot modernized the anterior double-knuckle from the 407th model. All other versions received a slightly modified suspension like McPherson from Peugeot 308.

There are two gearboxes: a 6-speed robot for a 120-horsepower gasoline version and an already familiar Aisin 6-sloping machine for all other modifications. Peugeot 508 with a mechanical gearbox to Russia will not be supplied even in the basic version.

For the test we got a gasoline machine with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine and automatic transmission. It is this version that more than half of all sales of the 508th in Russia are subject to this version. I conquer the motor and already in the first meters I note good sound insulation, which perfectly filters both the rumble of the motor and aerodynamic twists.


The six -speed Aisin automatic gearbox is characterized by good smooth switching. The main minus is tangible vibrations when you stand on the brake in D mode. On the central tunnel, a multimedia function and navigation control unit was placed between the seats, remotely resembling the MMI system with AUDI.

The dynamics of acceleration was not impressed, but did not disappoint. The declared 9.2 seconds is enough for movement in the city, but a little is not enough for a confident speed overtaking on the highway. You have to either twist the turbo engine to the maximum, or include the sports mode of the automatic box that gives the work of the transmission Peugeot 508 responsiveness and excitement.

The six -speed AISIN automatic machine, which is equipped with a similar turbo advance PEUGEOT 308, works smoothly and without jerking. Switching occur in a timely manner, but there are still small delays, and the manual mode with petals on the steering wheel is dishonest - the automatic transmission arbitrarily switches up upon reaching the maximum revolutions. When you stand at a traffic light with the D, 508th Handrit vibrations on the cabin. I remember that PEUGEOT 407 suffered from similar symptoms.

The French did not lose control with controllability. The direct Peugeot 508 holds perfectly, not a spray on the ruts and not requiring unnecessary stooping. The buildup on the waves of asphalt is minimal. At the speed of the steering wheel with a well -verized zero, it is poured with a pleasant effort. The balance between reliability and excitement is perfectly selected: the feedback on the steering wheel is alive, but not sharp. Good feedback in the bend gives a sense of trajectory, allowing the steering 508 at the level of sensations.

Judging by the reviews of colleagues who have visited the European presentation, rolls of cars with Russian adaptation (+17 mm for gasoline engines and +20 mm for a 136-horsepower diesel) are slightly higher. However, even in sharp turns, the Peugeot 508 falls moderately and does not leave the trajectory.


Peugeot 508 pleased good handling and informative steering control.

Relumes for excellent rudder were increased rigidity. In the cabin, the suspension reactions are felt even to small joints and irregularities, the pits are overcome more with average comfort, and on large bumps not far and before the breakdown.

A well-packed 150-horsepower car with automatic transmission in the Active configuration costs 994,000 rubles, the top-end diesel Peugeot 508 GT is estimated at 1,479,000 rubles.


The volume of the trunk is average by the standards of the class. The back of the rear sofa is laid out in parts, I form an almost even surface.

Peugeot has high hopes for Peugeot. In addition to wearing the proud title of the Flagship, the Peugeot 508 should fill the lost positions of the brand in the business class, attract the male audience and enter the top 5 sales of their segment. In my opinion, this pursuit race Peugeot 508 is quite on the teeth, and all the points above and, as always, will put the market.
