A normal man will never wear women's clothes. And he will drive a female car only if it is a Peugeot 206 SW.
PEUGEOT 206 may well claim the title of a female car: in some months, representatives of the fair sex make up to 90 percent of customers of this model. On the one hand, this is evidence of the great luck of designers and designers, because women have always been considered more demanding car owners. On the other hand, the popularity of the model in the ladies acts scarefully on representatives of the stronger sex, concerned about the influence of the machine on their image.
The station wagon, which will be delivered to Russia since the fall of this year, has a chance to close this gap on the front of the struggle for the hearts of drivers. Due to the more massive back, it looks quite worthy of fathers of families and at the same time retains the charm inherent in the 206th lion cub. And most importantly, it gives pleasure from the management process, which was one of the main reasons for the success of the new Peugeot models.

However, Peugeot representatives prefer to decipher this abbreviation in different ways: first of all, this is not a traditional Station Wagon. After all, 307 SW - Sky Wagon because the sky is visible through its glass roof. And 206 SW we could call Street Wagon, since such machines are mainly oriented towards residents of cities. Indeed, despite a fairly noticeable increase in length (190 mm), the car has maintained compactness and does not cause any special problems to the driver when looking for a parking space. At the same time, lengthening the rear overweight provided the possibility to increase the volume of the trunk by more than a quarter - up to 313 liters, if you load it to the level of windows. This is already a sufficient volume to use this model as a family machine.

He is what is needed. The front part is no different from the usual 206th, including inside. A convenient instrument panel, a spacious interior (sensations are not too different from some models by the class above). If you find fault with something at the workplace of the driver, so that except for the uncomfortable mechanism of the angle of adjustment of the back, it is not easy to catch the right position. Still, like many front -wheel drive models, the transmission lever is long. But these are, in general, trifles. For the station wagon, the background of the back is much more important. And here 206 SW is quite at the level - it provides all the opportunities that you expect from the station wagon, without any discounts on the class of the car. The rear seat folds completely - that is, first you need to push the pillow, then lower the back. At the same time, not an absolutely flat cargo platform is formed, but something as close as possible to it. On all versions, the seat is divided into two unequal parts. In addition, if necessary, transport the long load can be tilted forward to the back of the right front chair.

The same taste. The main difference between Peugeot and competitors is elegant handling and stability, which give the car almost sports in nature. Although lengthening of the back could not but affect the behavior of the machine. Firstly, the new backing increased the load on the rear wheels-the difference in the equipped mass of the hatchback and station wagon with the same engines is 50--90 kg, that is, up to 10 percent. In addition, the station wagon is designed to transport goods. Therefore, the rear suspension was changed: the longitudinal levers were complemented by oblique rods in order to preserve the rectilinear movement of the levers under load in the corners.

It is not surprising that for a test drive, Peugeot managers have chosen a route passing along the winding mountain roads in the south-west of France. Almost continuous bundles of turns with a small width of the roadway require really accurate observance of the trajectory. And here 206 SW showed his belonging to the famous family: he keeps the road so well that the middle driver is unlikely to worry about the speed of turning turns - the supply remains almost always. This, of course, is not a call for unbridled dashing, but in normal conditions the car is ready to fulfill almost any desire of a person while driving.
TOP MODEL. The capabilities of the new chassis are especially pronounced when you are dealing with the S16 version. This is currently the most powerful modification equipped with a two-liter 16-valve gasoline engine with a capacity of 136 hp. The maximum speed of more than 200 km/h requires an adequate company. This version provides a tougher sports suspension and 16-inch wheels with low-profile tires. Plus the richest equipment: electric package, skin and alcantara, automatic climate control, many external distinctive parts. High power allows you to easily keep a speed at a level of 150 km/h on the highway, and there is still a decent reserve for overtaking.

In principle, a two -liter diesel with the Common Rail injection system (Peugeot means such modifications with the letters HDI) is quite capable of maintaining high speed. However, it should be borne in mind that due to the effect of turboyam, this motor reacts to gas pedal not as fast as gasoline-it is better to be more accurate when overtaking. However, in conditions of ordinary urban movement or on a simple suburban road, this diesel looks very attractive. Except that at the lowest turns the moment is not enough - from habit, I had a chance to stall a couple of times when touched. However, diesel engines in our area are not too popular, which can not be said about the West. Otherwise, PEUGEOT would hardly plan to equip about half of all the 206s sold with ignition engines with ignition. For example, in the same France, the tax system encourages the owners of diesel machines, and the savings on the fuel are tangible. In our country, the main obstacle becomes the unstable quality of diesel fuel.
Choice without torment. The gamut of gasoline engines is not as extensive as that of Volkswagen, but offers a wider selection than Skoda. The best option for Russia, obviously, will be a 16-valve with a volume of 1.6 liters and a capacity of 109 hp. By the way, automatic transmission is installed only on this model. Of course, a real macho of the automatic transmission is useless, but for a simple city dweller or citizen, it is very attractive. A weaker 1.4-liter engine with a capacity of 75 hp. It also provides good dynamic characteristics, but they can be considered almost extremely acceptable. But sixty horses of a 1.1-liter motor for the station wagon will be not enough.
 
The engines are clearly tied to the versions of the configuration: 1.1 liters. and diesel 1.4 liters. (joint development of Peugeot and Ford) -only on the simplest x line, 1.4 gasoline 1.4 can be obtained by XS (on universals this equipment is similar to XT in hatchbacks; includes electric drive and heating of mirrors, leather steering wheel, as an option -as an option -as an option Rain sensor). However, the main motor for XS is a 1.6-liter. There is also XS Premium-it differs from a simple presence of climate control, the drive of the rear windows and the ability to order leather finishes. A two -liter diesel is available in any configuration, except, of course, S16. By the way, 2.0 HDI will be the second modification after the S16, which will receive the steering wheel with a performance that changes depending on the engine speed. So there is something to choose from - both men and women.
