Opel Omega $ 8500

Many malicious sayings were invented about this brand in Germany. However, life proves that the witty is far from always right. An example of this is Opel Omega B.

Omega B became the second generation of ADAM Opel AG upper business class cars. The first performance of the model took place at the end of 1993, and it went to the series in the early 1994 in two bodies, a sedan and station wagon, Omega B was equipped with four types of gasoline engines: two in-line 4-cylinder volume of 2.0 liters with X20SE and X20XEV indices and x20xev and two V-shaped sixes of 2.5 and 3.0 liters (x25xe and x30xe). There are also cars equipped with a 2.5-liter turbodiesel production of BMW. Our consultants recommend a 2.5-liter gasoline six as the most optimal engine in their technical and consumer qualities. The fact is that four-cylinder engines are rather weak for the machine of such sizes and weights, 3-liter roads in customs, and elderly diesel to a country with an undeveloped network of service and repair, low diesel diesel quality and high prices for spare parts and consumables can cause constant headache owner.
Pure uniform. The bodies of all omegs were subjected to bilateral galvanizing and thorough anti -corrosion treatment. However, we know that a artisanal garage repair can nullify all these protective measures. According to the observations of our consultants, almost 100 percent of omegs imported from Europe underwent cosmetic, and about 70 percent - even more serious body repair. Therefore, signs of repainting, especially the roof, and any deviation in the size of the clearances between the details should serve as a reason for a more thorough check. It will be useful to raise the rug to the right of the front passenger seat and study the condition of the car’s VIN code in this place. In the case of a lateral blow, this place could seriously suffer, and traces of external influence will inevitably affect the number, which you cannot help but notice.
However, even the most impeccable appearance of the car is far from evidence of the integrity of the geometry of its body. Therefore, for a detailed body defect, we advise you to visit the service center.
Codes and ciphers. We are talking about the key code, the code of the radio and the immobilizer code. Their presence is very desirable, since albeit indirect, but still confirmation of the purity of the history of the machine. The absence of an immobilizer in a car younger than 1995 clearly speaks of its dark past. Better look for another. By the way, having become the owner of the car, through an official dealer you can find out how many keys were made by the former owners, order new ones and even cancel the extra, which are unknown where.
In a car with a leather salon, special attention should be paid to the performance of the seats heating. Its recovery is not cheap - about $ 700. With a fabric salon, this is less critical - spend about $ 50 in one seat. Checks require climate control and air conditioning. It is necessary to check the fan operation at all speeds, otherwise you will part at least $ 200 for the replacement of the electronic regulator. And the control unit itself will heat you by at least $ 1000, although it breaks extremely rarely. And do not forget about the switch of the air flow. Its drives, as a rule, do not fail, but the jumped vacuum tube, which is hidden under the torpedo, will suck from you at least $ 200.
The tripod of the triple-computer should also attract attention. Over time, numbers and letters can become unreadable. This is also rare, but aptly - the replacement will cost $ 400.
Combustion. By tradition, we will make a small test drive. Any oddities in the clutch work and its inclusion should make you think. Replacing worn -out clutch will cost $ 500 with work, and the problems with the hydraulic drive will be pulled after $ 100 (plus $ 40 for work). Replacing the chief cylinder will cost all $ 500 ($ 250 per part and the same amount). It is better to refuse a car with automatic transmission, where when gear shifts there are noticeable jerks and blows. Repair will cost, in the best way, $ 800.
The knock when the rear axle is sharply touched from the rear axle area will report the possible wear of the drives (about $ 200 apiece), and the hum at speed is about the death of the hubs bearings. Replacing the front bearings of Nechev - about $ 150 apiece, they change with the hubs. But these are still flowers compared to the insidiousness of the rear bearings. With a large run, a complete production of their seats is possible. And at $ 70 for the bearing itself, you get to replace levers - at least $ 400.
Extraneous sounds and biting when turning the steering wheel should make you steer away from this car - it will not seem enough. The steering mechanism of the omega is not -free, and the replacement will cost $ 800 (plus another $ 230 per work). The noise and a noticeable reduction in the steering force when pressing gas will be reported about a very ambulance replacement for the GRU pump. For restoration of the status of the CVO, give $ 450 plus $ 100 for work.
The reasons for the intelligent identification of the exact identification in the field are not amenable to the causes of the test drive in the process. However, consider: for each ball support you will have to pay about $ 40 and another fifty dollars for work, the back of the rear suspension blocks will cost $ 36 for a couple of plus almost the same amount of work. The front silent blocks and stabilizer racks will fit $ 250 into the costs of expenses, and the replacement of steering rods will add about $ 300 and so on. Do you need it? There is one prophylactic recipe: the diagnosis of suspension on the service and, therefore, the ability to make the right decision will cost only $ 25.
Omega option. If most of the aforementioned you is not noticed, we continue and raise the hood. And we will ask the owner to start the motor and press the gas. If, as they say, it shifts in the collector area, then replacing the gasket will most likely be associated with the removal of the engine head, which is very expensive. It is also often found to flow oil inside the candle wells. It is enough to remove the wire from the candle and look at the tip. If there is oil on it, then you should not believe the seller’s words about the penny price of laying the head cover. We will have to change the entire plastic cover ($ 100 and $ 160 for work).
The motor, especially 6-cylinder, should work smoothly and quietly at idle. If extraneous knocks and sounds are heard, then very broad prospects are opened before you: from the elementary replacement of candles and/or wires (and the latter for V6 will cost $ 230 per set) and then - up to the bulkhead of the motor. If the desire to find out the specific reason does not disappear, prepare $ 50 and go to the service.
So, you completed the inspection, and everything suits you. There was no nightmares mentioned above by car. Before moving on to a pleasant procedure for registration of sale, ask the seller to present convincing evidence of the last replacement of the timing belt. Its service life is limited to 60 thousand kilometers, and if there are doubts about the last replacement time, then keep in mind that the first and urgent contribution to the freshly acquired car will be replacing this belt. That is, you will have to give about $ 400 per set with work for V6 (on a 4-cylinder engine, however, much cheaper). But such an interrogation with addiction is required, so as not to sign a sentence for up to $ 6000 for the overwriting of the engine and replacing the head of the block.
Nevertheless, Omega B model 1995-1996 is a good option for a reasonable price. A large, powerful, comfortable car. Naturally, all of the aforementioned troubles in one car do not immediately meet. Especially if the machine was regularly served. Even for Omega, as well as for many other German cars, in Russia there is a wide range of non -original, but high -quality details and spare parts that are about half cheaper than relatives. A similar situation with working hands. All the prices we indicated are dealerships, and to whom to entrust the 5-7-year-old car-you decide.
