Opel Astra, Long Test: 140 instead of 180

The top-top 1.6-liter turbocharged version of Astra with a six-speed automatic dynamics is magnificent and the consumption is small, but many 180 horses will seem a lot. There are variations with atmospheric motors 1.4 (101 hp) and 1.6 (115 hp), but they suffer from hypodynamia. The most optimal option for all cases, it seems to me, is a 140-horsepower 1.4-liter modification with turbocharged. Well, lower the degree.

On a 1.6-liter turbocharged car, we skated a total of about a month, increasing the total mileage of the car to 22 thousand kilometers. Vadim Gagarin managed to hit her in St. Petersburg. I did not have time to deliver this apparatus to us. And in early spring, we changed it to a snow-white Astra with a 1.4-liter turbocharged motor and mechanics. We got a Snow White with a mileage of 30 thousand kilometers. And already managed to throw a couple of surprises. But first, the impression of the power unit.

Our version with a mechanical six -speed box. The cost of such an astra begins with a mark of 655 900 rubles. Acceleration to hundreds of 9.7 seconds. But still from the motor I want more excitement. The programs are stretched, and the traction of the engine at low and medium speeds is not thick. In the snow -speaking of winter operation, this is quite good, it is convenient to control acceleration on slippery surfaces. The wheels will not again be broken into the box from an overdose, and the track control will not even wake up, but another asphalt is another matter. The white Astra is equipped with an adaptive Flexride chassis with adjustable stiff shock absorbers. Three levels are provided: Tour, Standart (most balanced) and Sport. By order of the driver, the electronics changes the stiffness of shock absorbers and the performance of the steering amplifier.

With loose shock absorbers in Tour mode, Astra is comfortable and imposing. The steering wheel is light and least informative. The suspension once extinguishes terrifying uneven sizes, in general, for unhurried family moves over long distances just right. But on narrow winding paths with many steep turns and studs with such settings you can’t quickly go. The picture is completely changing if you activate the Sport mode. Here, the suspension becomes dense rolls, no swinging and cloaks allow, and the effectiveness of the electric power of the electric power is reduced on the steering wheel.

Electronics can make the car safer in emergency situations. For example, if in the soft mode of Tour the driver sharply begins to maneuver in order to avoid a collision, or to slow down sharply, the electronics will immediately prolong what is the matter, it will instantly increase the rigidity of the shock absorbers to the sports and provide the car with maximum stability.

The shock absorbers control system for vibration loading of the body constantly monitors using accelerometers, which are located on the cups of the power structure, where MacPherson racks are based. So the transition from the winter soft tires to the summer did not affect the nature of comfort in the appropriate suspension modes.

Of the defects revealed to 30 thousand kilometers. The coolant level sensor is fool. On the display of a route computer, an appropriate message crawled out from time to time. A penny sensor was replaced according to the warranty. We took the car in winter and did not wash it for several thousand kilometers. Slack spring affected the performance of washers. The nozzles, irrigating glasses, turned out to be capricious. The mud settling on them overlaps the narrow nozzles, breaking the spray and the adequate supply of the liquid on the glass. I categorically do not like the scattering of the keys on the central console, the control is illogical, confused and requires addiction. However, the time for this is still an Astra, we will drive another and a half month. And, of course, we will definitely talk about other features of a 140-horsepower modification.
