Test drive Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero, Shogun) LWB 2000 - 2003 SUV

Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DI-D /14 700 km

Owning Mitsubishi Pajero, we approached a dangerous line when it seems that when choosing a car you swelled and could be bought cheaper, but better. In this case, the same Pajero 3.2 Di-D, only three-door and with a mechanical gearbox, in the identical configuration of GLS. The difference in price is $ 5850. The difference in length is 515 mm, in weight - 155 kg. Of the other significant differences, the absence of a leather salon, wooden inserts on the steering wheel and just a radio with a CD player is thrown into the eyes. Instead of the multimeter, a regular LCD display is installed, on which the mode of operation of the radio and other information is displayed-the air temperature, the climate installation mode, etc.
Pajero with a mechanical box turned out to be surprisingly frisky - he easily kept in the wake of his older brother and more rapidly left the traffic light. You can not even spend efforts on touching from the first gear. It is enough to immediately stick the second and add the thrust from the engine by the gas pedal.
As expected, the short -busy Pajero is more noticeably Kozlit on an uneven road. In order for the passengers, at least the front ones, to feel more comfortable, the front seats are made to be sore, with the ability to adjust the rigidity of their suspension up to a complete blocking. In long -drawn versions with electrical adjustments of the seats, such a device is not installed. And in vain - despite the fact that on a wave of laundry a long Pajero swayed much less, it was more comfortable to sit in a short car.
- The fact that the small Pajero is 515 mm shorter is a clear minus. The car immediately lost its impressive cargo capacity and turned into a picnic show. If there is a need to transport a large baggage on it, then you can forget about the places for the rear passengers.

+ Pajero 3-Door is noticeably higher above the road, although the suspension settings for three- and five-door versions are the same. The difference in weight plus the mass of the kit on our long Pajero 5 is affected. The chances of a short -drawn version of the off -road are much preferable, especially on the surface with frequent differences. The long -shot will definitely fall on the belly where the short Pajero will slip on the move.
+ In the small Pajero, dimensions are much better felt, and the driver does not feel the feeling of a person with a huge backpack who wandered in the subway at rush hour.
+ Maybe this is from sending, but the modest fabric finish by Pajero 3-Door came to our liking. Firstly, in such a heat it does not sweat from her, let's say, the body. Secondly, the fabric is easily washed or cleaned and in this sense is more hygienic than black skin. By the way, diesel versions with skin are not yet found on the Russian market. Maybe because the small Pajero is rather not a representative car with the serious capabilities of an SUV, but a serious SUV with the inclinations of a representative car. Whatever you say, and Pajero is a loud name.
