Mercedes-Benz S500 from the point of view of a workaholic

This publication is addressed to those who make money well and can afford a S-class. I would venture to move away from the usual narrative about the car (I already spoke about it in AI No. 20, 2005) and share some thoughts and, mainly, subjective sensations that arose after two weeks of constant and tight communication with the S500. Imagine, gentlemen, I came to the conclusion that there is definitely nothing superfluous in him. Perhaps I would have added all -wheel drive winter because I was in the yard, snowy and slippery. By autumn, the company promises to satisfy this wish. Everything else in the limousine completely suited me.

The S-class is created for those who work hard. Only an ignorant (or what to call it?) A person can abide in the conviction that rich loafers own luxurious sedans who are pouring from the sky. Life, you know, personally forced me to learn for a long time: real capital is earned, and hard work. And if someone four massage modes in a multi-circuit with an automatically changed degree of lateral support, or an excellent audio system will seem excessive luxury, then this someone else really did not work hard. Without this and much more than the S-class does not have that it is impossible not to do. And the point is not so much self -plague, but in a practical sense you simply must afford to relax, feel comfortable and safe on the way to work, to meet, home. With a driver or independently driving a car.

Late evening, rather night. Freezing. I go to the S500, touch the handle of the rear left door, the locks are automatically unlocked, as Mercedes has already recognized its key in my pocket. I throw my briefcase in the back seat, then I sit down for a few seconds to the driver's place to press two buttons of the engine start and heating the seat, and turn the lower left lever, activating the heating of the steering wheel. Of course, the headlights and overall lights are already burning, and the climate control system is waiting for the moment when it will be possible to take the first heat from the powerful engine. Now I deliberately slowly wipe the lateral mirrors and glass, then I throw off the sheepskin coat the seat is already warm enough so that I do not freeze.

Just a few minutes after the start of movement in the cabin, it becomes warm, and somehow involuntarily relax. Did your neck be numb? Now, perhaps, the mode is suitable for me slowly and strongly: pleasant waves roll from the lower back to the shoulders and back, and fatigue accumulated during the day does not go away, but as if dissolving. In this wonderful chair, in a calm and beautiful sound of a stereo system, in the subtle rustle of winter tires, in an amazingly smooth move, which differs a solid rear-wheel drive car.

Once I brought in the back seat of a good friend who suddenly uttered: and they also say that in Moscow nasty roads and nothing like that! The pendants (pneumatic, hydraulic firing) are really a miracle of technology, they are able to reduce many street troubles, and at the same time, in the mode of active movement, they make the car very obedient and stable.

Somehow imperceptibly, jokingly, I drove along the free streets to the Moscow Ring Road. Not tired, but resting. Now very close. Then I slightly lowered the motor with a leash. It may seem to someone that five and a half liters of working volume and 388 forces is too much, you still do not use all potential. However, it’s nice when it is always in abundance under the right foot, and at a speed of 100 km/h

Well, here I am in garage boxing. I go out, I touch the door handle with a finger and will not allow a stranger to get into it, but continues to illuminate the way out for me.

I have not talked a lot about the S500, so I did not promise. I will only mention the maintenance. Then you should take place every 15,000 km. But their cost, by and large, is not too important, and it is definitely impossible to determine it in advance. Because there is a special block in the machine, which constantly tests nodes and assemblies, as a result, determining the list of necessary work. Unofficially, in one of the branded service centers, it was reported that the first one, as a rule, costs 18 thousand rubles, and the second of 28,000.
