The beginning of the history of this model can theoretically be considered 1947, when a car of 170 V appeared. Since then, more than 10 million business sedans have been collected, which also allows the E-class the heart of the star brand from Stuttgart. It most clearly embodies the quality of the brand, allowing the manufacturer not to be particularly shy in the configuration of the price tag. Each new generation of the model gained athletism, thereby forming the charisma of a classically solid, but at the same time a strong car. And 14 years ago, a four-eyed design appeared, which later became almost the main business card of the E-class. It is not surprising that in order to preserve the identity and one hundred percent recognition, the new generation of the model inherited the genes of predecessors, it should never be noted, which did not affect others aggressively.
What is deigned, sir
Strength restraint - so you can briefly characterize the concept of the design of the new E -class. Street-step lines dissect large convex and concave planes, dissolving in them and appearing again. A game that gives rise to an elusive, but traditional sense of superiority. Designers, using the statics of forms, were to create a feeling of moving forward. As far as it succeeded, the market will show. In the meantime, the e-class with hope looks at the world with new eyes: his headlights, which had previously had an oval shape, from now on professes the ideas of cubism. Before us is a new image - for someone unexpected, but instantly recognizable.
About the same attitudes formed the basis of the formation of the interior. Its creators tried to reproduce the exterior design inside the salon. And if they ask me, did I like this salon, then the answer will be the answer: what exactly do you mean? With wooden or aluminum inserts? With which skin? Embossed or smooth? Maybe with the skin of NAPPA? Or maybe fabric? The thing is that the options for its decoration have numbers. The layout is also different, since in cars, for example, with various types of transmission (7G-Tronic with a selector on the steering column, a more traditional 5-band machine or 6-speed mechanics), some controls are located differently. The five -hundredth gasoline in this sense, of course, should take its own, but still some representatives of the last generation of engines from Mercedes, retaining its former power, are able to save up to 20% of the fuel against the previous units.
In fact, the new E-class is a completely self-sufficient analogue of a certain hypothetical exhibition of the achievements of the German automobile industry. In almost one body, you can get completely different cars in the sense of dynamics, comfort, controllability. Eshka can swim over the road, as if on a magnetic pillow, leaving the driver in complete ignorance of the relief and speed (do not be a speedometer): this is how Direct Control’s base suspension works based on the improved three -leaf McPherson with steel springs and amplitude -dependent damping (hydromechanical principle of operation of shock absorbers - without Electronics) in front and proprietary Mercedes multi -leaf. In the Avantgarde configuration, she has an option with sports setting, reinforced reptile stabilizers and 17-inch discs. In this case, the body is lowered by 15 mm. By the way, we managed to try this suspension in the case: extremely detailed, requiring accurate and, if possible quick reactions of the driver. Well, finally, for the most powerful versions, the Airmatic air suspension is once again available, in its actions, based on the choice of the driver (Comfort and Sport modes), as well as the opinion of the electronics analyzing the position of the body, the state of the road, the angle of rotation of the steering wheel and other options. From our own experience, it is ready to state that for the first acquaintance with the new e-class the most suitable was the basic Direct Control, which allowed its smoothness to freely concentrate on the study of numerous devices and governing bodies. While the air suspension is more suitable for driving more demanding and sharp, excluding compromises.
As for the steering wheel, this is a gear-strut-based mechanism with a hydraulic power control in the best Swabian traditions, where, unlike the previous version, the gear ratio is regulated. Perhaps, in the near -Stolium zone, this is unnoticed, while when the steering wheel rotates 90 degrees (when parking or maneuvering on a serpentine), the moment grows markedly. For advanced sets, AMG sport package is available for 5100 euros (for Elegance) and 3900 euros (for Avantgarde). The most balanced special series are the most balanced at the cost of set of necessary options.
