The road for XF is like a scene for the U2: it is here that he demonstrates the best of his talents. And now, when instead of a 4.2-liter engine XF is equipped with the latest V8 5.0, your first acquaintance can rapidly develop into love.

Jaguar invited us to the azure shore to announce the 2010 model year sedan. The appearance and salon did not undergo large changes, but two new engines appeared under the hood: a 5-liter gasoline V8 with a volume of 5 liters and a 3-liter turbodiesel. Moreover, Jaguar insists on determining a new one, because the difference between the previous 4.2 V8 and the new V8 5.0 is not less than between Abba and AC/DC. The leading engineer of the XF project, Andrew Haiman, was not too lazy to seize the presentation of a convincing evidence of the fundamental novelty of the 5-liter engine. Bolt. A long metal bolt is the only common engine detail from the past and its successor. They are also related by the outstanding engineering school of Jaguar, however, the new engine was created with the greater participation of advanced technologies per liter of volume, and given that there are more cubic centimeters in it, the reason for Haiman's excitement becomes obvious. Well, a comparison with eight competitors (Audi A6 4.2, BMW 550i, Lexus GS 460) really in favor of Jaguar: the XF engine develops 385 hp. - This is more than that of any of the opponents, and 515 Nm - a meaning comparable with the moment of the 10 -cylinder engine of the BMW M5! It is also impressive that with a significant increase in power, the new V8 has become more economical and greener than its predecessor. All this sounds extremely tempting, especially if you look at the map of our route: at first we are waiting for an even autobahn, then city streets and mountain roads for dessert. XF has every chance to prove oneself.

Jumping and rushing - such tricks do not pass with Jaguar. Even if you imagine that the work of the collum does not knock you down and does not force you to walk around the car to quench the thirst for the beautiful, you will certainly hold your breath in the cabin. I did such an experiment: sat down, went out and again got behind the wheel, but each time Jaguar still knocked his breath. As if the sniffing or rustle of clothes can nullify the efforts of Alistair Welan, the author of the XF interior design. After all, he created this salon, ringing with perfection, luxury and highlightek not at all for someone to breathe in it, right?
Following the appearance, the salon is another pride of the XF. His organization in every possible way emphasizes the priority place sitting at the wheel (the word driver is more suitable for XJ). The back is not as spacious as, for example, in the BMW of the 5th series, and the rumble of the exhaust system soon becomes intrusive. The sofa profile is not bad, but in general this is not a bureaucratic option. You can not go anywhere to understand who XF is working for. The main one here is the one who has a key and driver’s license. Around this lucky, a whole performance of three parts will be played: dynamics, comfort and Jaguar-Drive under the curtain. Welan’s merit is that he changed Jaguar by 180, without changing the spirit of the brand. Traditionality is captured in detail: the smell of the skin, absolute silence, the classic style of digitization of devices without a doubt, this is Jaguar. But Jaguar is new - a business class tomorrow. Therefore, the influence of technological progress is felt in every detail. For example, the opening button is a touch. Salon lighting plafones work according to the same principle: you bring it to them hand and they are turned on. There is a large sensory display in which all service functions fit, which made it possible to minimize the number of buttons on the central console. Of course, JaguardriveSelect is of particular attention - a magnesium puck control control at the site of the usual machine gun selector. I am sure that in Germany they are already biting the elbows that they did not come up with a round selector first. But XF does not stop there and continues to surprise. In the afternoon - solid decoration materials, impeccable assembly quality and excellent sound insulation, and at night - beautiful turquoise lighting devices. No one has one, and this is another reason to envy Jaguar. Details such as, for example, a flat line on the front panel sheathed with skin create a special, unique atmosphere of warm comfort and security. We are dealing with the rare case when the flaws do not even want to notice. Therefore, a few more advantages can be noted: the salon is replete with spacious boxes and other cup holders, and the trunk is voluminous enough to get there all the stereotypes remaining after S-thepe.
Element XF
As soon as the electric pulse from the pulsating, like a beating heart, the Start Engine buttons are heard to the starter and the crankshaft awakens eight grumbling cylinders, XF is in the native elements. Of the well -known rules, only one thing works here: take as much pleasure as you can. Only the rules of the outside world, such as restrictions on speed and traffic lights, can interfere with this. It cools my ardor, but not XF. He waits for the slightest touch of the gas pedal and rushes vigorously forward. The revolutions increase with such lightness, as if in the engine, there is no friction. It does not create power, it lives it, so the powerful thrust is available in the entire speed range. And the higher the pace, the more gratitude to XF: the speed is definitely to taste. However, the speed range is from 1000 to 3000 rpm is enough to go faster than the flow and not experience elementary stress. Thus, XF justifies its name: Jaguar does not notice the bumps, rabbits, light and mobile. When a lumen forms ahead, nothing is able to restrain 515 Nm. In this case, fuel consumption ranges from 9 to 12 liters depending on the pace of the ride.
In the urban crowd Xf, its dimensions are not shy and maneuverates with the agility of a small hatchback due to good overview, light steering and the moment engine. The rear view option also helps.
The most difficult test awaited us in the evening, when a long highway and slow city interchanges should be replaced by running turns and tight hairpins. The mountains. Is a business sedan weighing 1780 kg ready for them with automatic transmission and unbridled power on the rear wheels? The sports regime for a 6-band automatic transmission and electrical control shock absorbers quickly leads XF to life. It does not become tough or sharp, it simply strains muscles, from which its movements in corners acquire a more organic character. XF is exactly the wheel, reliably slows down and presses the seats in the back on the straight lines. He is fast. He is sound. I am sure that it looks great on these roads surrounded by sharp rocks. But he is not XK to put pressure on the gas where you can drive calmly. If you get carried away with a power and chassis with a colossal stability supply, then the stabilization system will quickly notify the danger. In addition, frank hooliganism on the road somehow does not fit with the aristocratic way Jaguar.
Jaguar-Drive
The updated XF 2010 model year is not a sports car. And not a sofa on wheels. This Jaguar is modern and thoroughbred. Thanks to the new V8 5.0, the maximum dynamics reached a different level, but the integrity of nature, which XF has gained with a new engine, is much more important. The former V8 4.2 engine was not bad, but Jaguar showed us that he was able to give more. Including more comfort, confidence and stability. And the greatest talent XF is that it does not depend on any certain conditions. He doesn’t care where to show himself - in the city, on the highway or in the mountains. Under any conditions, he gives pleasure that only Jaguar of the Renaissance is capable of.
