I’ll start sharing my impressions from getting acquainted with the Honda CR-V car with the fact that I will name its price. So, the price niche in which this machine is located can be indicated as follows: from two and a half to three and a half million yen. And this immediately puts it on a par with the Toyota Harrier class 2.4 liters. If anyone forgot, I can remind you that the previous Honda CR-V model, regardless of modification and category, corresponded to the definition within two and a half million yen. Thus, if we assume that the sale price is an indicator of belonging to some specific class, it is easy to guess that the CR-V car has become a class higher than its predecessor. In order to understand that this is true, just look at him once from the side. If at the same time you are well acquainted with CR-V cars produced earlier, then the enlarged dimensions of the body will immediately catch your eye. Although, if we say for sure, this growth is still not enough to stand on a rage with a price competitor to Toyota Harrier (or Murano, who likes what more!). And who then will you order to compete? With those with whom before: with the models Toyota Rav4 and Mitsubishi Outlander. Yes, but at a price the most expensive modification of the RAV4 lineup, that is, a sports car with all-wheel drive, is still lower than the price of the cheapest machine of the model row CR-V, namely, CR-V ZL, which, moreover, is monotive ( 2WD).
It is possible to talk about increasing the class of the new CR-V car, of course, this can be seen even with the naked look. Prior to this, as you know, the CR-V lineup has already experienced two generations, and designers have always sought to emphasize its off-road orientation. But the new car turned out to be a typical SUV. Pay attention at least to the back door of the trunk. Where did the spare wheel have a spare wheel, which, if we have an SUV, is always in this place! Look, because until this time the situation in the cabin was quite simple to, figuratively speaking, life did not seem honey. What now? And now everything has changed very much, and the arrangement of the salon has become the same as in an ordinary passenger car with a pronounced sports character.
The quality of the seats too, I note to you, has undergone some transformation, the essence of which can be expressed by the phrase, as in the Civic salon, but it became, like an accord salon. All cars, without exception, have a large central console from the front panel inside the cabin. And this, in particular, means that free movement inside the cabin (such an operation is called Walk Through). But it was this feature of the CR-V cabin that was one of the trump cards of the machine! Now, apparently, a fat cross is put on this. Moreover, the construction of the body, in fact, remained the same, with a completely flat bottom. So the installation in the cabin of the massive central console has no technological background is exclusively a design move.
What else to wish when the car feels so well on well -maintained roads?
It should be noted that from the very beginning Honda CR-V cars, despite their off-road orientation, were also good on landscaped roads. Now this direction, apparently, has become a priority. That is, the CR-V machine has become a more sample with a parkingate, rather than, so to speak, by a field car. Meanwhile, if you evaluate the operation of the steering, you can recognize it in somewhat heavy, especially against the background of other city car cars SUV. In the same way, the wheel suspension seems too hard. And what do you want if out of 5 categories of manufactured machines 4 include in the basic package of an increased tire (that is, 18 inches with a diameter of 18 inches)!? When moving around the city, the car often has to move almost at the speed of the turtle, and in such cases it is only worth it to run into irregularities, as a very tangible push immediately follows from below. It turns out that the suspension works harder than other SUV cars, even those that were not prepared specifically for the city. At the same time, despite the super-profitable body, in the CR-V cabin I did not hear the characteristic deaf sounds of the blow. As for the shudder of the body, firstly, the machine has a large size, so the amplitude of the oscillations is not so large, and secondly, soft seats are performed by great sedative work. So to say that the car is not too comfortable, it would be obvious untrue.
But here I choose the moment and begin to add speed. As it increases, I liked the new CR-V car more and more. And all because the rigidity of the suspension disappeared somewhere, and the body began to stay more evenly. Sometimes it even seemed to me that additional gravity began to operate on the front and rear axis, the amplitude of the fluctuations of the elastic elements of the suspension, both the front and the rear wheels, became so small. When I entered the turn, not too well picked up the speed, and I even felt a little uneasy from my own courage, then in the vast majority of cases there was enough only one turn of the steering wheel, and everything fell into place. The rut of the car became somewhat wider, and the consistent work aimed at reducing the center of gravity of the car, also, as I understand it, did not go in vain. The car obeys the steering wheel unquestioningly and performs the commands so accurately that it is not a terrible winding road. I even believe that by the ability to move along a winding road this car with full right can be included in the elite of the SUV category.
Recently, an increasing number of similar cars are equipped with unavailable variators, but Honda designers invariably insist on an automatic 5-speed gearbox. And, I dare to assure you, such persistence does not seem simple stubbornness, given what speed engine is paired with this automatic. The car’s chassis is designed in such a way that any coolest bends of the road for the car, as they say, seeds. What else to wish? But what: it would be wonderful if the driver always had a manual speed of speed switch, for example, on the steering wheel. Well, and it is clear that the automatic transmission has a manual switching mode. And all, no more comments!
World -class car
We turn to statistical data. For all the time, while the machines of CR-V were produced, in the period from 1995 to the present, about 2 million 500 thousand such cars were collected. Now their assembly is established at 9 points of the globe, and these machines are sold in more than 160 countries of the world. And if we evaluate the significance of each of their three above world models, taking into account the constancy of the image, it turns out that only the CR-V car has the right to be called the most revered Honda brand in the world.
The plan for the implementation of new CR-V machines provides for the sale of 2000 units per month. By the way, in the end, in general, only a few hundred were diverged at the end. What is this, a consequence of saturation with Cross Country type cars after they were so popular? It is possible that I don’t know that way. I will say only one thing: in Japan, the demand for cars of the SUV category is not as large as, say, somewhere in Europe or in America. And if so, then the success of the new CR-V machine is hardly possible without an active struggle for a foreign buyer. In a word, it does not matter that in Japan itself it is not too popular. The main thing is how they react to him in America, in Europe, and in a number of Asian countries, including China. And there is Africa, please do not forget! Yes, I fully admit that in the domestic Japanese market the position of the CR-V model is not too encouraging. However, at the global level, figuratively speaking, far from the evening.
By the way, CR-V cars sold in the Japanese market are trying to take not only increased body and salon sizes, and with their improved technical characteristics, but also a list of equipment included in the basic completion. And it is equipped, frankly, according to the highest Japanese standards. Here you have a system for preventing a frontal clash, and locator cruise control, and much more. All this, of course, affects the price of the car, this is understandable! And if you exclude the cost of all these additional devices and devices from the total amount, then, perhaps, it was even possible to meet the framework of no more than 2 million yen. And then they say, they say, Rav4 is cheaper! It would be better to take it and compared the equipment there, and here, on the new Honda!
I am not a utopian and understand that it is unrealistic to expect Japanese buyers once again flashing that frantic love for the Honda CR-V car, and it will become a hit of the season. Nevertheless, I ask you to pay attention to the quality of the performance of a new CR-V car, even by world standards! The engineers seem to have decided to use the entire technical potential of the company in it. Yes, I agree, SUV cars, whether it is Harrier or Murano, more in size. But some of them are equipped with 4 cylinder engines. The new CV-R car has the same motor. So judge for yourself: which is better, large with insufficient power, or smaller, but with the same engine, that is, Honda CR-V? The question has no unequivocal answer, and so far it should not be chopped from the shoulder and say that Honda asks for its car too much price for its car.
