Do not be afraid of the title of this article. Just Cadillac SRX, with which I spent several test days, is a product of almost conversion technologies. Therefore, apparently, his appearance evokes an ambiguous reaction. And the name of the valiant American brand, which has somewhat faded in the past couple of decades, does not fit with the shape and content of SRX.
It would be good to perform new crusades on such a car. The army equipped with white Caddy SRX would look very convincing. When looking at the stern, a single word comes to mind: tuning. And after him the question is immediately: where did the original, native SRX lanterns go? But it is quite possible and they will appeal to someone, to which, as you know, there are no comrades.
However, the lack of integrity in appearance is easy to write off on political correctness! Moreover, everything seems to be tied to this remarkable notion of the American people when you can do anything, and at the same time hide behind the figs of the struggle for the rights of those who are in the minority. And it does not matter what minorities - religious, political, racial - the main thing is to call this political correctness, and any problem is solved. Judge for yourself: SRX seeks to be formidable so that he is not suspected of weakness, and at the same time respect everyone and everything. Here you are again analog watches like Jaguar if you are a New York intellectual; Here you have corporate American plastic if you are a democrat (what if you love Korean Import with all your soul, but you are shy about to ride it). Here is a tree on the steering wheel if you, like George Bush, Republican and Conservative. It is worth removing the leg from the gas pedal, and the subjective, sensed connection with the motor does not disappear, as on most American cars, but rather, the motor goes to active braking, and although the box switches with noticeable delays, the feeling of control over all 320 horses does not leave . With such a ligament that acceleration, that overtaking, that inhibition is one continuous pleasure. But there is an impression of integrity and composure, and this is the main thing.
It is very pleasant to go quickly on SRX. And not only in a straight line. The car clearly follows the wheel, quickly responding to the driver’s actions. Perhaps, for the first time in all my communication with overseas cars driving SRX, I felt excitement. If you make a mistake with the trajectory of entering the turn, ESP will come to the rescue, which does not wait for the development of skidding or demolition, but rude enough, as if grabbing the tail, under the screech of tires, stabilizes the car. Having received a mountain of pleasure from the habits of a large American on the highway, let's eat from the road and see how difficult SRX justifies its light off-road image? If you go down the off -road, although SRX does not pretend to be off -road laurels, a constant all -wheel drive with an asymmetric central differential with a priority for the distribution of torque on the rear axle and an enlarged road clearance allow you to feel more confident than driving a conventional passenger car. I will not convince myself that Cadillac SRX is good. This is really a very good car that gave me a few days of driver happiness. It is also not necessary to convince yourself that SRX is a profitable acquisition, because with a beautiful 4.6-liter eight it costs a little more than $ 70,000: rivals with a more modest six-liter six-liter six are worth it. At the same time, Cadillac also has a very spacious salon and a huge trunk, which most competitors do not have. It remains only to convince yourself that a real SUV from America can be a worthy car for a European.
