Fast and economical
The Bavarian concern began to officially supply SUVs with diesel engines to Russia
The whole thing is in diesel fuel

Incidentally, it was the quality of the Russian diesel fuel that slowed down (and slows down) the supply of cars with diesel engines. Back in 1993-94, BMW specialists conducted independent studies of diesel fuel in our country, and came to disappointing conclusions: many harmful impurities, primarily sulfur. But more recently, the BMW Russland Trading decided to conduct repeated tests. According to their results, a positive trend in improving the quality of fuel was noted, and the decision to start the sale of cars with diesel engines was finally adopted.

In addition to remarkable dynamic qualities, diesel X3 and X5 distinguishes, of course, another important advantage - economy. The stroke on one tank is about 800 km. You can get, for example, from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
On the run

In addition, since the 2004 model year, X5 has been equipped not by five, but a six -speed automatic. Therefore, the start of even a relatively low -power diesel version is very intense. In my opinion, the automatic transmission from BMW was always on top, and now an additional transfer has acquired a legitimate place in them, which, paired with a diesel engine, allows you to save fuel on the highway as much as possible. The work of the switching mechanism is also one of the best in the classroom. Want to go slowly? Easily! Just do not press the accelerator pedal too much, and the box at this time will be smoothly, but surprisingly quickly switch from step to step. Is there a need to accelerate instantly? Please, the Kick Dawn mode will shoot a car without hesitation.

In terms of comfort in the movement, diesel x5 is practically no different from gasoline counterparts. At least, not a single vibration or irritating sound is heard to the cabin.
The stability of X5 in the bends can be envied by another passenger model. Here the whole thing is in another innovation that the Germans began to use on an SUV, starting this year. This is the XDRive all -wheel drive system. In it, torque is constantly redistributed between the front and rear wheels. However, this does not mean at all that XDRive is a system that reacts, let’s say, to an already accomplished fact when the car has gone in a skid. Its beauty is that using the DSC stabilization system, or rather, numerous sensors, electronics monitor the current road situation and, as it were, prevents the loss of adhesion of any of the wheels. It is with this algorithm of work that time plays the most important role. And Xdrive solves the problem without hesitation.

What if DSC is disabled? I accelerate to 80 km/h, and - the steering wheel to the left. Feed immediately begins to strive to overtake the front, that is, a skid arises. The main thing here is, as I quickly understood, not to get scared. It is worth dropping the gas, as you get a soft, but not too pleasant sliding with all four wheels out of turn. But if you slightly turn the steering wheel in the direction of drift, and, most importantly, not reduce the gas supply, then X5 in the light and controlled drift will go in a given direction. Let me notice that BMW generally loves gas.
As for the prices for new modifications of Bavarian SUVs, they are still very high. I won’t undertake to explain why, but for x3 3.0d in the execution of Business they ask for 56,900 euros, and for x5 3.0d Business - 71,900 euros.
