A large German three in the F segment, in addition to the station wagons, offers a complete set with a five -door Avant/TOURING body. But, if the BMW 5 and Audi A6 recently replenished these ranks, then Mercedes W211, just a year older, is already preparing for restyling. And the younger nozzle Chrysler 300C may well play for him. Moreover, this makes the comparison less banal.
And for the driver to receive the maximum pleasure and security for his money, all three cars can be equipped with a full -wheel drive transmission. Naturally, we could not refuse such a choice, although we managed to find options only in this particular configuration.
When comparing machines with so different power and volume of engines, there can be no objectivity. Audi here is an indisputable leader. In this context, a6 Avant Quattro with a 3.2 -liter engine would look much luckier. Because 4.2 blowing off the place like a rocket. The body is smeared about the back, but it gives a deliberately grateful signal the shape of the seats is better worked out than that of competitors. An exceptionally correct shape of the seat ideally distributes the load both vertically and with longitudinal or lateral overloads. Planting can also be selected by choice without limiting the real range.
Tiptronic is a reference and imperceptibly sorting through the programs, and serious sound insulation does not allow you to accurately become attached to the engine turning by sound. When comparing the dynamics of the two remaining cars, the advantage of both seconds and the speed of switching should be given to the Bavarian station wagon. 525xi reacts very quickly to the pedal both when typing and when reset. And the brake dynamics of BMW seems to be the best that, in addition to the amplifier, additional unknown forces help slow down. But Chrysler, on the contrary, rolls out of the expected brake path. But here everything is explained simply by the German-American car noticeably heavier. The laws of physics cannot be deceived. But in fairness I will say to the brakes of Chrysler quickly. It slows down for a long time, but adequately and predictable.
Name 300C slow language. Rather, he is imposing. On a large beautiful car, I do not want to rush, but to feel all the clearly pronounced and perfectly felt transmission and a margin of move under a tight accelerator pedal is pleasant. All this is complemented by the royal landing as on the throne. The high location of both the Chrysler himself is over the road and the driver in the cabin allows you to look at the neighboring cars down.
At first glance, this high position should lead to decaying in a bend. But no, three hundredth, to change the trajectory of which has to be pretty twisted by the steering wheel, far from excess rolls. On the one hand, this is due to the largest in context (and indeed) width. But in this case, I also had to sacrifice the smoothness of the course. It is tall and, despite the long base and solid overhangs, does not catch with thresholds and belly for all sorts of traveling pavements. But BMW and Audi require a very gentle handling with them in real road conditions.
The more expensive cars, the more difficult the choice. As a rule, everyone made it in advance, taking into account personal, friendly or advertising developments. But to judge our right. Even if you discard the advantage of A6 in the liter, it definitely claims to be first. If not for one but the price. This is a machine for those who do not look at the price tags at all. But the 300C station wagon is fundamentally pleased with the price/quality indicator. Plus style! Well, 525xi supporters are not required to agitate either for or against them and so know which car is the coolest.
