The first impression of the car is focused on miniature ladies. The exterior is beautiful, perhaps even too much. Solid glamor! The interior is the standard of European quality. As they say, and you want you won’t. And with the color scheme, the penny has a complete order. No gypsy and clown experiments on mixing colors. All strictly dark bottom, light top. As an exception, options for coloring the body in burgundy tones are allowed.
However, with all the severity of the interior and from the designer point of view, the BMW of the 1st series of the coupe, in our opinion, is still not the fundamental that makes others feel respect for the car riders. There is nothing to say about the convertible option. In our latitudes, people drive exclusively brave people on such cars. Not afraid of neither the vagaries of the weather, nor the cigarette butts flying on a highway from neighboring cars, nor envious glances. But let's leave emotions ...
It so happened that behind the wheel of a new Bavarian penny, your correspondent sat immediately after the BMW M3 test. What a penny seemed small, just toy! The feeling of lack of freedom intensified when a colleague flopped on the right passenger chair and we painfully hit our elbows. I had to threaten the opening of the roof (22 seconds, according to the official release), which would turn our road test into sea campaign (rain poured from a bucket). A short struggle for a place on the central armrest ended with unconditional surrender of the passenger.
According to the staffing table, the BMW MW MWs Circular line consists of a 120D diesel engine (volume 1995 cm3, power 177 hp) and two gasoline engines 125i (2996 cm3, 218 hp), 135i (2979 cm3, 306 liters .With.). The assortment of power plants in the model in the body of the convertible is almost the same, it is only supplemented by another 120i gasoline engine (1995 cm3, 156 hp). In the basic version, a penny is equipped with a 6-speed mechanics that migrated with BMW M3. We got a car with an automatic 6-speed box with a stepbronik on the test. In the city, an automatic machine is out of competition. However, having escaped on a free highway and passing at a decent speed, a bundle of turns, the owner of the new BMW 1st series on the machine will probably remember more than once about the good old handle with a cult letter M and 57,600 rubles paid for an automatic device. So most likely the question on the appropriateness of the presence of automatic transmission in the BMW of the 1st series of the coupe or convertible will be formulated something like this: and on the hell of the Bayan? Yes, absolutely not needed! After all, such machines are bought mainly to satisfy the driver’s ambitions, and comfort is far from the first place.
The compartment is close to the ideal in its weight. The front wheels account for 48% of the mass (for reference: on the HETHCHBEC of the VMW of the same series on the front axle accounts for 46%). Thanks to the aluminum front suspension and rear drive. To say that due to this the car is perfectly controlled, it means to offend all the engineers who worked on it.
The car gives pleasure from the process of movement. Yes, with a short base (some 2660 mm) at high speed in the turns at the wheel of a penny at first it becomes somewhat uncomfortable. However, the standard system of dynamic stability control (DSC) and the electronic system for adjusting the chassis is always on guard. When electronics determine the danger of losing the clutch of the wheels with the road, it automatically reduces the moment of drive and produces individual, precisely calculated brakes of individual wheels. An uncontrollable sliding is prevented even before its beginning, the stabilization of the BMW series of the 1st series occurs over milliseconds. As a result, we get a sweetly tickling sense of danger, while a priori are spared from panic fear to lose control over the machine. Such is the Bavarian strategy: to give any driver to feel like a real driver, while, like a small child with soft pillows, laying it with a whole platoon of electronic rescuers and proofreaders.
Unlike the BMW coupe 1st series of convertibles with a similar engine of 135i is 115 kg harder. The fault of this is the additional elements installed to enhance the hardness of the body. For this reason, the acceleration rate to 100 km/h 5.6 s versions of 5.3 C is compartment. But what is surprising: if the author of these lines had to be chosen between the BMW of the 1st series of coupe and the BMW 1st series of convertible, I would definitely buy it an open version.
We were lucky, in the second half of the test day the rain stopped, and the sun came out from behind the clouds. Naturally, the roof was instantly packed in the trunk. At a speed of 8090 km/h they did not learn anything new for themselves. Breeze, fresh.
Surprisedly sustainable gaze of passers-by. But when the speedometer arrow got to the mark of 150 km/h, the most interesting began. Wind streams began to break through the windshield and mercilessly rub the tops of our heads.
Closer to 200 km/h, we already regretted that we did not take with us motorcycle helmets. At a speed of 240 km/h, your correspondent was finally convinced that he was driving a non -ordinary convertible, but naturally controls the four -wheeled motor -nister. And as for the wind ... So, after all, the car, we repeat, is largely created to obtain a driver's buzz. So all the disadvantages for comfort and controllability are actually its advantages.
So far there is no BMW MW 1 series. But, apparently, the appearance of a charged version of a penny is just around the corner. In any case, now it is optionally proposed to buyers, together with the car, to purchase the so-called M-package, including a set of additional equipment and some decor elements designed to slightly tun the stock version of the machine. Say, aluminum inserts appear in the cabin, the thresholds are decorated with overlays with the letter M, the color of the body is selected by individual order. Some elements of the M-package can be bought not only in the kit, but also separately. For example, a leather steering wheel with gearboxes made in M-style is estimated at 9306 rubles.
