Volkswagen Golf VI test drive 5 doors since 2008 Hatchback

Test drive in Iceland: VW Golf 2009

In Iceland, the newcomer had to prove that he is better than his predecessors. Not a weak test for car on serpentine paths in the mountains of the most vulcanized island of our planet
On the streets of Icelandi, the car had to endure a fiery dedication. And this means literally: 3 days of water, sand, ice and the constant presence of a huge number of mountain cobblestones. Not a tour, but a murder. And all in order to find all the weaknesses of a freshly baked candidate.
Crystroly clear air, blue sky, dramatic landscapes supplemented by Iceland volcanoes is an ideal place for the presentation of the new car to the press. At least Golf definitely fits perfectly into this scene. For the first time, the audience saw him on public streets. When our car appears at a traffic light next to Toyota Rav4 and Peugeot 308, it looks much fresh and desirable to its predecessor. Its unchanged basis of design without unnecessary twists, but modernly continues the usual, traditional Golf concept. The fact that the new model is really fresh sixth generation, and not just facelift, VW proves already at the first meters. Never before have a single Golf diesel was so quiet!
Without the interruption of turbowing and explosive deployment of power, a diesel with a capacity of 140 hp. Evenly and quickly gaining momentum, leaving his native predecessor far behind. After a few seconds, you can see a 90 km/h mark on the speedometer board. Unfortunately, it is impossible to move faster in Icelandi at all. The on -board computer shows us a consumption of 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers. According to official figures, the consumption is on average 4.9 liters of fuel. It is a pity that VW only in 2009 will release the increasingly popular Blue Motion series of its sixth Golf. Also, the published version of LPG-Golf will appear only later.
Everything is still in the cabin, but in general nothing new. It is a pity, because the sixth version will present itself extremely good absolutely no sound interference from the wind, it will count the re -edited shape of the case. But the tires 205 width make themselves felt, but this is not surprising on the gross roads of Iceland. Initially, the developers of VW achieved such almost ideal silence by maximum sound insulation the rest is already secondary. Supporting this moment is still important for a comfortable feeling of a driver and passengers in the cabin of such a car.
But comfort in our time is sometimes expensive. Our test candidate would cost the buyer in Europe at 30,000 euros. But he would have received leather sports seats, a parking assistant, an expensive color navigation system based on a hard drive with the ability to preserve a large number of favorite music, cardrider and entrance for connecting iPod. In such a luxury Golf there is almost everything that is on a long list for an additional fee. The direct transmission system (DSG) seemed very useful to us. Such a system switches all six gears itself automatically, lightning, but it is still comfortable with the same. The system is simply in complete harmony with a turbodiesel engine. Whoever wants the total full -fledged driving dynamics can refrain from using the novelty and switch all gears on his own. Manual control can be useful in inclined areas.
Less comfort is felt with adaptive depreciation control (DCC). Although our Golf rolls noticeably softer when switching from Sport on Comfort, neurmal neutral position is the best compromise for us. But the system, fortunately, is included in serial delivery. There are also an assistant of automatic distance control and a retractable rear view chamber. This only suggests that VW and Golf have become somewhat different than before, namely the car should become an excellent satellite not only for those who appreciate inexpensive but high -quality cars, but also for more demanding customers. After all, all of the above elements included in the serial version of GOLF 6 often apply either to expensive additions or to cars of a completely different class.
