The first impression: the focus is much larger and heavier than the golf. Although in reality its advantage in size and weight is very small. But the difference in approaches to the settings of cars is great.
GTI is very vividly responding to the gas pedal. At the same time, the motor sings on a rather high note, creating the illusion of highly phoned, but small. Golf clings to the road very well, but the suspension does not please with comfort: she, as they say, collects all the pits. Therefore, it seems that the car is very light. The same feelings evoke a very quick and accurate steering wheel.
This is especially noticeable against the background of Ford Focus ST, which is struggling to seem like a healthy heavyweight. Its more smooth, but very very assertive acceleration accompanies uterine muttering so many -liter and multi -cylinder engines behave so. The focus suspension is softer and more comfortable, the steering wheel is not such a sharp complete set of sensations of a large, heavy, but very powerful machine.
The equipment deprived of emotions confirmed the actual superiority of Ford: it develops eight with a tail of kilometers per hour more, ahead of the Volkswagen in acceleration to the first hundred by 0.1 s, to the second already 2.7 s, is better accelerated in higher gears. And he is really heavier than 44 kg! The victory of the blue oval?
The asphalt will judge
Not so simple. After all, hot hatchbacks buy not only then to bullet from traffic lights, admiring fans, but also in the hope of pleasure from driving in pure, so to speak, alone with the car. Here, seconds and kilometers give way to emotions, since they beat over the edge.

The strongest side of the golf steering. As if you control a large card so quickly and clearly the machine fulfills all the wishes. The focus in high -speed turns suffers from a lack of feedback, and does not react so quickly, which is why the driver twists the steering wheel and hears the screech of the front wheels that have gone with the plow.
The focus still scored his prestige goal. Heated brakes with smoke and smell circle behind the circle reliably besieged the car, while Golf demanded to start slowing down before and earlier.
